Okay.
Deep breath.
I'd like to have a friendly and grin-laden discussion about the ongoing epic battle over the wiki fun fact schtuff. Here's why. I haven't been wiki-ing very often of late, and now that I'm browsing (bumbling?) through it again, I can't help but notice the startlingly muggy swamp of fun fact brouhaha. There is debate over what is fun, there is debate over what is fact -- heck, there's even debate over how to go about debating the debating.
I remember being rather eye-rolly about the size of the fun facts once upon a time -- how they often kept growing and growing, how they often remained poorly-written and offered up by unregistered users and so on and so forth. However, now it seems the pendulum has swung to the other side ... so much so, that frankly, bemusedly, if this particular wiki soul sees another fact, of any kind, anywhere, she fears that she might throw her kitchen utensils at it.
Heh. Nah. She -- uh, I mean, I, wouldn't do that. That would be getting too serious. And since the HR Wiki exists to provide HR information -- HR being a funny thing -- the wiki has to be a serious thing about a funny thing. That's the whole trouble, I suspect. We're trying to be organized about fun, and that's somewhat difficult to do. But is it really possible to do that without, well, negatory vibes? Without throwing around stuff like, "I vote no because it's not funny and it sucks and I don't like you and your entire family should take a left at the next exit for HELL!" That kind of attitude seems to be growing of late. In vibes, I mean. And I suspect that's kind of turning folks like moi a little off of the wiki, I think. And that's no good. Because we've got a good thing here. Or at least, we've got an interesting n' amusing thing here.
Am I the only one who feels those vibes? (That's very possible. I'll never win prizes for being a medium.) Or at least, am I the only one who feels like talking nicely about those vibes? I agree, something had to be done about the factoids. And organization is the bee's knees. It just seems a taaaaad bit out of hand right now. To me, anyway. A tad bit "NYAH, so there," in nature. And I guess I just wanted to venture a, "Hey. Hey. Take it easy, eh?"
