Sounds like I was wrong, maybe what Matt meant was the site wasn't making enough $ anymore for them to do it as their primary job and they had to go back to real jobs. :(

With all sincere respect.... writing, animating, marketing, and merchandising IS a "real job" that requires skill and dedication (if done well as in the case of the Chaps). They have a healthy fan base among new filmmakers, puppeteers, and animators.... as anyone might do they went to where the money is. Bigger and better funded projects. I think the site will always maintain a place in their hearts and will occasionally update (who knows...maybe even an eventual reboot/come-back) but they got a lot of attention from the work and are now enjoying the rewards of that (job offers from studios and like minded artists/producers).

With all sincere respect... you know what I mean by "real job." I'm perfectly aware that it is a real job. But it's better than a lot of other "real jobs." Your own boss, your own creation, work from home, etc. I originally thought maybe they got a job offer from Yo Gabba Gabba or something similar, but MATTS TWEET is what made me think that the site wasn't supporting itself financially well enough to make that their only job anymore.

Maybe they got a job with Yo Gabba Gabba or who knows what, but either way I think the point was that H*R may not have been financially stable on it's own anymore for that to be all they do.

With all sincere respect... GO DUMPLES!

What would happen to Compé?

the fact that there wasn't a single toon made this year kinda saddens me. and with no decemberween toon on the horizon, things are really turning grim

As "dead" as it may be, these migs and megs of memories have likely touched us more than Lil' Spicy's speeches. Now, all you Trogdors and Tompkins, SHINE AUWN! I'm gonna throw a GIF parade.

Repeated One Billion Times !!!

(Your post got my excited at first, Today is The One Year Anniversary of A Decemberween Mackeral, A Date That has been burned into my mind since Last Year. I thought there was another toon, then rushed to the site to find out. That got me Five Times More Excited than when I heard about Iron Maiden's Final Frontier.)

But Still, Repeated One Billion Times !!!

Okay 1. THAT PICTURE IS MY NEW DESKTOP WALLPAPER!
And 2. Here's my view on this whole hiatus thing.

Reading the numerous topics would suggest that TBC are working on something big. Whether that may be season 2 of SBCG4AP or the movie Monster Safari (Riverquest Safariventure?) Or they may be just taking a break (From people pointing out how they manage to pretty much give a supply of updates every week for 10 years.) So with all of this...err....evidence? I say that they are taking a year off. As for when I expect TBC to release a toon; I think they will release something for December(ween). If not, I'll wait for April. Then they may go back to regularly updating.

tl;dr: I think TBC will release a toon for Decemeber, if not April.

I think at this point, it's obvious why they stopped. Matt found a job as a writer and director for Yo Gabba Gabba and I bet it pays handsomely. In addition, I bet that job takes up almost all of his time. Mike probably has another job too and is in a similar situation.

This likely means that during the "baby break" they got a "lucky break" and took it. So even if they want to make toons, they probably don't have the time to devote to it and they're probably making more $$$$ than they ever did with H*R right now (or at least more than they probably currently make with H*R).

So I'd say as long as they continue to have other jobs, to pursue new heights in their careers, etc.... H*R is dead or demoted to one or two updates every once in awhile. Right now, there hasn't been a single update in a year. And there hasn't been any kind of regular updating of the site since 2009. That's depressing.

I think that the real limiting factors of why they are not making new content is spare time and the will to keep making H*R cartoons. But since we, ourselves, cannot figure those factors out for sure it really is just to wait and see if they will make a new update.

LOL People, i dreamed that i went to homestarrunner.com and then i was like "holy crap!"
the website had a flash file to the left and the rest was an HTML website, and the characters
had a new cool style! But the odd thing was that they were accompained by the looney tunes characters and the LT song. WTF. And that someone in youtube told me about that change.

But when i woke up i thought "aw, crap, i really wished this was real!"

Maybe that dream (minus the LT part xD) could be a vision?! We never know!

It would be one thing if crap like Yo Yabba Dabba or whatever it is were actually funny, but it's hard to blame a guy for taking a downgrade in quality to boost his paycheck.

The Brothers chaps included many nickelodeon references and actually TBC animated
Yo Gabba Gabba
Well, mostly i can say I bet they animated the parts that look like a video game (yes, i watched YGG once... do not watching it again)

You do know Yo Gabba Gabba's aimed at three year olds, right?

I'd have no idea. I just know it can't possibly be funny because of the title alone.

According to Matt Chapman on his Twitter page, Homestar Runner will return "just sporadically and without warning". He even says "no one in their right mind would willingly stop making Homestar cartoons for a living". So there is till hope. Sorry if this has already been brought up here, I haven't been on these forums for a while.

We know about those posts. But like I've said before, it's likely that he's gone back on them.

Oh OK. Sorry for bringing that up then. Like I've said, I've been gone a while (since 2006 apparently).

I wish they at least would tell us if HR is dead or not. It would be better than us waiting and wondering if they'll ever return. It also would be nice if Matt updated his twitter...
