I don't think anyone's pointed this one out.
In sbemail 10 strong bad types 'I mean what the f' and then stopst and says 'OH NO I GOT IT'
I think we can all guess what he was going to type.

In one sense, I understand that. Then again, it seems to me that one should accept this as part of Strong Bad's character. I can't see how anything could be so sacred that Strong Bad would not make fun of it.

Strong Bad doesn't say that Jesus per se is stupid, just "this guy". In other words, he doesn't really know what he's talking about.

Based on various articles describing TBC's upbringing (their father was a Catholic and their mother a Methodist), I strongly doubt they share Strong Bad's views, and I don't think they intended it as blatantly offensive. We're supposed to be shocked, of course, much like Homestar is, and our voice is Homestar's as he cuts Strong Bad off.

Incidentally, there's been some dispute as to whether SB says he was "probably born" or "probably bored", which is significant in that the former suggests Jesus more than the latter. But either way, it's noteworthy that he says "he was probably born", as this is solid evidence that he indeed doesn't really know what he's talking about.

Unless it's a girl. :p On another note, Strong Bad lives in Free Country, :usa:. How wouldn't he understand what he's talking about?

I don't understand why TBC decided to make O Holy Crap in the first place if the intent was to offend as many people as possible. I've never heard of someone being amused and offended at the same time. It seems more like Dead Baby Comedy material than Homestar's usual offerings. I generally just pretend that that particular toon doesn't exist.

That's the thing. I don't think they were trying to be offensive, rather just showing Strong Bad in a bad light. This toon was very early in the history of the site. I sure don't see them making it today.

I direct your attention to the collected works of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Your description is how I would characterize a lot of people's reaction to it.

The most offensive thing on H&R is definately the Ali&Ali's sister thing, just how unexpected it is of the brothers chaps to relate to sex that clearly. That, and i guess trevor the vampire, but really, homestarrunner is DEFINATELY rated PG. Not terribly offensive.

Ehh I'm a christian and i don't take offence to the "Jesus was stupid"thingy. I mean really, it even says under the name of the toon "Strong Bad offends everyone". I dunno. He was kinda meant to act like a jerk there.

Why doesn't anyone remember Commandos in the Classroom where the youngest one (I don't know his name) said "I guess I'll just go get teen pregnant."

You're not the first. There was a mild debate about it on-wiki, which you can see here: http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Talk:Commandos_in_the_Classroom#Is_it_just_me.3F
In fact, that's a terrific link for this thread, as several of the common offense complaints are touched on in that discussion. Recommended reading.

I've never really been offended by anything on the site, but was kind of disturbed by "A Folky Tale." Then again, that was the point of the toon.

Uh, no. Not trevor. "Sisters". The email was revisited in the email "Do Over".
Seems like the emails in the tandy era were the most mature though seeing with "What the F-"
or sisters, or "Nevermind the bullucks".

"Nevermind the bullucks is technically a Compy email though, if you know what I mean.

Well, it was made during the Compy era. TBC accidentally skipped the 22nd email and so during the Compy era they realized their mistake and made it.

Because Strong Bad stops just short of swearing (although it's played for laughs).

According to the Wiki, sbemail22 came 1 week before the Compy era.

Has "I'm a white guy with a knife" already been mentioned here? :coachz:

But the "white guy with a knife" line was changed after the sbemail's original release.

That's a hard one. I'd have to watch through the cartoons again to find something. I guess the only thing that worried me a bit was in the first episode of the game where Strong Bad was pretty hard on the Swedish. And I guess Homestar's line about Oiled up Bill Cosby creeped me out, but didn't offend me.

The closest thing to being actually offensive was probably "Oh Holy Crap", but he never really referenced Jesus, just the song.

Besides (and including) that, nothing on the site can be taken as seriously offensive. This is probably the cleanest hilarious "show" I've ever seen. Most comedy refers to and makes fun of certain groups groups of people, but that's very rarely done here. Most of the humor is related to absurdity. Or ridiculosity, which I think is a better word to describe it. The very few things that may be found offensive (almost-swearing, references to sex, etc.) are set up so that only the most mature and learned in these fields would get it, and laugh. No children will have to ask their parents what words mean after watching a 'toon.

Besides Oh Holy Crap, sbemail 169 deleted scenes has 2 whole swear references in it *gasp*, one of which may actually BE a swear, if interpreted correctly *doublegasp*.
"Oh, damn!...g. Dang."
I'm almost positive that's what he says. And the trailer -
"...that will have you saying W T PF. 'What the pfargtl?'"
Altho that's not exactly a horrible offense (it made me laugh hysterically, thus proving the little references to adult humor can be good). But the first one was almost definitely the only true swear on homestarrunner.com. It left me speechless the first time I watched it. Otherwise, the place is clean.
