Thanks for the guide, Phlip. I don't think everyone really understands: Your entire signature, that means all banners, all text, basically everything from the end of your post to the end of your post box, needs to fit in the box Phlip posted. After the end of your post, everything after the line needs to be 100 pixels tall or less. So that means that if you want 2 banners, they each have to be 50 pixels tall.

Note, you can also right click and press properties, then look under dimension for a picure. If the first number is above 500 or the second above 100, then it's too big.

I just took a screen shot of my sig, pasted it in Paint, made the cavas smaller so it was wrapped around my sig, when to Attributes and saw the size there.

Stu seems to have double-posted back there... I think we can all safely say:

NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY!

Derr. Mine is probably still too big. I guess I could just put links to the images...

Yep, it's best to use that example box.

Hey, why haven't the mods been going around fixing people's sigs?

Lazy, lazy mods :p

I think that they want everyone to change it themselves. That don't want people angry at them for changing their sigs without notifying them.

I know my view is not a popular one, but I hate signatures altogether. Avatars are enough to customize posts, people don't need huge banners or unnecessary lines of text, which becomes extremely repetitive and annoying if you post more than once in the same thread (I don’t want to read your signature more than once, and after I do, it becomes a waste of space).

I really don’t understand what the appeal of signatures is. If they were taken out or reduced to maybe one line of text, then forums would look so much better and would be so much easier to read.

Sorry if I offended all of you just now, go back to complaining about how you have to resize your banners.

Its a place where you can be creative I guess. People can tell alot about you by seeing your signature (or lack there of). If it can be kept within the limits, I'm all for em.

I think that’s what avatars and profiles are for.

Sure, some signatures aren't too bad. Most of them are though. Frankly, I think some people flat out embarrass themselves by posting big ugly self-serving banners and then lines of text all around it. Text means nothing to me. Text that really means nothing to anyone but themselves.

What really gets me, is when a person’s signature is much larger that the post itself. When 80% of what someone posts is all in their signature. Am I the only one who thinks that’s a little ridiculous?

If it was maybe just a small HSR related image or quote, then that would be fine. That would be enough.

Thats all your own opinion, and some people have a different one.

I do agree that alot of signatures are getting out of hand (along with their "centers"). But I don't think that, as long as kept within the limits, a little signature won't hurt anyone.

I agree. And I think yours is cool. I like it actually. It's those ones that are just way out of hand that get to me. I'm not going to name any names though.

Personally, I think signatures are kinda fun. They are just a little more space to advertise whatever you want. (I understand that avatars and profiles are also appropriate areas for this sort of stuff)

I also feel the same way about the unnecessary length of some of our users. A signature shouldn't detract from the posts.

That would be why we implemented a new rule :)

As for why we haven't been changing everyone's, we are all busy. Plus we would like to give our users a chance to redeem themselves.

My banners as of late have all been my own art, as is my avatar. I like to show off... and as such, my banner is also a link to my deviantART page. I change it pretty often, so I don't think it becomes repetitive. There are a lot of people here who have artistic/graphics skills, and the banner is good for that. An avatar is far too small for that.

Plus- who reads profiles?

I'm ashamed. :((

What would look better, if I removed the quote or the banner?

I had two good banners. I had my campaign for correct grammar and I had my POSTERS banner.

You could just replace the banner with a line of text - that's all it is anyway...

Just type it in that you are a member. It's as easy as that. It may not look as good as a banner, but what can you do?

OK, that was spam. And by admitting that it makes it not spam.

Hint: I'm kidding.

Seriously, I don't really mind. Except mine may be too wide. Which is kinda lame, but whatcha gonna do?

Next time you think you're perfect, try walking on water.

You mean like that?

Fine, fine.

You get to keep your blue walking-on-water quote AND my quote!

What a relief! I'm glad I'm hilarious enough to be kept around, TEF.
