I've personally never found anything offensive on H*R. TBC have done a good job of making it at least mostly family-friendly. Of course there are some things (occasional blood, constant use of the words "crap" and "freaking" etc.) that some parents wouldn't approve of, but I have never seen anything that would actually offend someone.

In the bird email, Strong Bad offends the entire milky way (well, maybe just the earth XD) by saying ''And i will totally flip you off.'' 0_o

I think this has already been mentioned but in the DVD commentary for "Winter Pool" Strong Bad mentioned going to school with a guy who's last name was "Shi-ted". (say it fast)

Oh, and the Lil' Brudder cartoon. That was just depressing.

The winter pool commentary can't be edited. It can never go away. :O

And the lil brudder part, does it being depressing have anything to do with offending people?

Generally I am easy going and comfortable with parody (hell I do it myself) but I find this fairly offensive.

My old man was a POW in Vietnam, there were a lot of people who didn't come back from imprisonment and there are families out there who still don't know where their child, spouse or parent really is. The flag was created as a symbol of that grief/hope.

More information here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POW/MIA_flag

I'm not saying YOU shouldn't buy the calendar, but I just lost a whole lotta respect for the Chapmans all at once.

If the question was "too soon?" my answer would be "yes".

One half of my family always joins the military, the other has always been into banking...

I personally don't find this offensive, and I'm not saying you should. But it's always best to see things in the spirit of fun that they are meant. Bennedetto was a fictitious "casualty" in this fictitious war,on a fictional website.

It's simply a case of art imitating life. And while I agree you have the right to express your feelings on this matter, I vehemently disagree with your interpretation.

I can understand that. Like you say, most people will take it for what the Chaps intended, for me they couldn't have picked a worse symbol to riff on. I see that flag and I think of the desperation of thousands of people.

It was... disturbing for me to see that they used it as a comedy prop. Bad form I say.

Anyway, I hope they get back to making their funny cartoon show, make me laugh Chaps PLEASE!

Now we can officially add this:

Strong Bad: I think we crossed our 'weens!
Strong Sad: I don't ever want to hear you say that again.

It wasn't disturbing until Strong Sad brought it up; in fact, I didn't even notice that what SB said COULD have a bad interpretation until SS mentioned it...

This isn't from a :hr: toon. Rather, it's form :sb: SBCG4AP.

:hr: Homestar: I don't think I'll be able to show my face in public again!
:sb: Strong Bad: Actually, I don't think it's your face you should worry about showing.

I kind of want to see them write more of this kind of stuff nowadays. You don't see Coach Z drunk-dialing Marzipan and crying nowadays.

The most offensive thing I can think of is the two counts of butt (one in the old Yello Dello, the other in Decemberween Short Shorts).

Yes, I know I'm sad.

The main thing that has always surprised me about the site is the Poopsmith, especially the gratuitousness of it. I have to wonder if him doing what Poopsmiths do is why SBCG4AP episode 1 got rated T instead of E10+. (I haven't played episodes 3 through 5 yet, so I don't know if they also have that.) What's really weird is that episode 1 was rated T, and episode 2 wasn't, because episode 2 has Strong Bad setting almost anything flammable on fire (if you so choose, but there are several objects where it's required). Apparently, gratuitous use of fire is dangerous in a show like Beavis and Butthead... but in Homestar Runner, it's just fun for the whole dang family!

Several years ago, apparently one of my cousin's friends was banned from watching Homestar Runner because the kid's mom saw the raven picking Homestar's brain on Main Page 7. I also recall showing it to my cousins. My Korean aunt walked in while Strong Bad was saying "crap" or something, and she said, "This cartoon has F-words in it!" (She wasn't shocked, but she seemed surprised. She also didn't allow her son to say "dang" when he was a kid because it sounded "too close to the other word". She has a good command of English, but I don't think she's really the best judge of what constitutes offensive language. :P)

What's weird though is that all the episodes that were rated E10+ had alcohol references while Homestar Ruiner didn't.

I think Homestar Ruiner was rated T because of the naked homestar hedge. But thats just my guess.

The rendition of Strong Bad doing O Holy Night is probably offensive to some people.

Not sure if that was brought up before but I didn't want to shuffle thru 15 pages of stuff to try and find it.

I think that TBC were just joking how some people will call others a "spazz", and there's Strong Sad doing it. TBC would never intentionally offend someone. The worst thing that I can think of comes from trevor the vampire, where Strong Bad almost said "-CENSOR'd!!-", but even then they were joking. Nowadays though, TBC don't joke around like that as much because their audience is much bigger and a lot of younger kids watch.

true. The audience has expanded and they toned it down a bit. Early Strong Bad was more offensive then the strong bad we know today.

I believe that was misheard. Strong Bad would NEVER do that, as offensive as he gets.

The fact that they haven't updated in almost ONE month.

and look at the site now!

To me, that's the 'most offensive' thing on H*R and it's pretty tame, barely registers as offensive to a fullblooded native (me btw). I thought it was funny. But if I saw somebody running around wearing wearing that kind of stuff around here, they'd probably get the ole single deuce.

That was hilarious!

Nope, read the transcript. It's genuine (although played for laughs).

The most offensive thing on the site in my opinion is , surprisingly a quote from Strong Sad. In the email Different town when, strong bad is up on the stool, strong sad comes in and says

STRONG SAD: No... Calm down, spazz.

I was really surprised when he said that because it is offensive to peolpe with disabilities. So what's your views on this?

That's true, but nowadays it's usually just used when people are freaking out, he's not insulting with the disability, just like when people say "are you retarded" it's definitely not nice, but they aren't actually talking about retardation, they are talking about stupidity, which many people who have mental retardation aren't. They just can't operate the same.

And most offensive thing on H*R? Well I'll sayy the most offensive thing on the Wiki and say, ALL THIS FREAKIN SPAM

Now, I'm Jewish, so I don't know if I can have much word on this, but the description for "A Holiday greeting" on the 'toons menu is "Strong Bad offends everyone." This is just the kind of thing Strong Bad would do, TBC weren't trying to purposely offend anyone. Besides, if you listen to what he says, you can clearly tell he doesn't have the slightest idea of what the crap he's talking about.

I find it extremely offensive how Coach Z originally said "I'm a white guy with a knife" during his knife fight on the bridge.

Also I was surprised that Bubs, given the stereotypical qualities of his accent, said "shinin' a chicken in the morning" and "mine name's cornbread." You'd think TBC would be more racially sensitive.

I know it isn't on homestarrunner.com, but I don't think I'm the only one who found the uncensored "Poot Slap" to be shockingly offensive. I'm surprised TBC decided to share that with the public.
