So I was looking for the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" commerical on YouTube, when I found the whole of the Happy Happy Joy Joy song on YouTube. Now, is it just me, or does the narrator of this song remind you of an early Marshie?

Seeing that again... It made me fall out of my chair in convulsions of roffle-ness. Why don't they make cartoons like that anymore? Now all us kidlets are left with is stupid crap that attracts controversy for even more idiotic reasons. Right now, most cartoons are something like this:

MAIN CHARACTER: If I do not collect the golden amulet, we will all be sad. Oh no.

OBLIGATORY MINORITY CHARACTER: Maybe we'll find it with...

ALL: TEAMWORK POWERS!

Then it disintegrates into some sort of badly-animated, formulaic quest. And, of course, they succeed.

Not that all of the newer ones are like that. A few are good in their own... ways... Nah. Most of the really good ones were canceled before they had much of a chance.

Now, disregarding that monologue of mine, I don't see the connection to Marshie. Just the random exclamations.

Yeah, I really don't see the similarity. He's just a creepified Raffi.

Marshie's inspired by obnoxious, "in-your-face" mascots for certain products marketed to kids. Like that stupid kangaroo who advertises Push-Pops. God, how I hate him... X-(

*ahem* Sorry about that. :-S

And I was referring to the narrator's creepy, almost Marshie-like non sequiturs for the inspiration. Like...

"Ah, the little critters of nature... They don't know that they're ugly! That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumblebee... I TOLD YOU I'D SHOOT, BUT YOU DIDN'T LISTEN!"

Preciesly. That was exactly what made me think that his mannerisms might have had something to do with Marshie's ramblings.

If it wasn't for the deeper nasally voice, that singer sounded like Marshie. And his creepy things he says just makes it even more so.

SHUDDER'D!

wow. Billy West is amazing, and why on earth did my parents ever let me watch that show? as for the marshie thing, i could see TBC being influenced a bit by stuff like this. it is classic, after all. "i'll teach you to be happy. I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs!"
