I just donated $10. How long will it take to show up? Is there any chance of moving the HRW to a cheaper server? Perhaps it's just because my price-range is permanently stuck in 1998, but even $100 a year sounds like too much for a server to ask a site for.

Your donation will show up in a day or so: the amounts updates when the person with access to the account posts the totals. This is the cheapest server that can support a site of this size. Hosting ain't cheap these days, unfortunately, and seeing as the site has tons of traffic, we need some dedicated servers. We had smaller servers before, and we ended up running out of bandwidth before the end of the month: giving us "Access Denied" pages at the last days of it.

Just as a note to everyone: you can view the financial information for the Fellowsites servers (the place that hosts the Wiki and Forum) right here. It seems like Joey has updated it quite a bit since he last showed it to me a few weeks ago--it's pretty detailed.

I recently donated $20 to Fellowsites, so I won't be able to donate during this Pledge Drive for awhile.

EDIT: Hmm...can this thread just change into a thread entirely about this Pledge Drive? Thanks, ramrod.

Well, it's that time again. The 2008 Spring Pledge Drive is in full effect. You all know the drill. In order to keep the wiki and forum running, donate please.

Wow! 2 people already donated over $50 apiece! Is it a rumor or true that the Chaps sometimes chip in?

I wish I could donate........
I don't have the money.. (Or rather, my Mom doesn't)
I dunno, though... my birthday's coming up in March...
So, maybe, as a birthday present, I could donate $50
We will have to see in March..
Anyway,

Let the Wiki (and the forum) rock on!,

Just to let you guys know, the Pledge Drive ends the 15th. We've raised less than a quarter of what we need. In order to keep the Wiki and Forum running smoothly, more needs to be done. Do you older members on here remember way back when when the forum went down once a month because we exceeded the bandwidth? Surely we do not want to go back to that. The money raised goes to pay for more dedicated servers and web hosting.

I'll try to donate, but I don't really have money flowing into my debit card at the moment. Even if I could, it'd probably be $15 at most since I donated $20 a few weeks before the Pledge Drive.

So yes...please donate, folks.

Even 5 or 10 dollars? Every little bit helps. If you don't have a credit card and don't want to mess with a money order, you can get a prepaid debit card (a gift card) at many local retailers for not many bucks, which you can then use on PayPal.

Post subject:  Re: Fundraising Drives

Actually, you don't need an account. You can use PayPal with just a credit or debit card. Just click on this link. Fill in an amount and click Update Totals. Then, down where it says "Don't have a PayPal account?", click Continue. You'll then have the chance to fill in the info from your card. If you don't have a credit or debit card, you can give the equivalent amount of cash to your parents and just borrow theirs. It's safe, quick, and easy!

I'd like to contribute $20 per fundraiser, but I don't have a bank account anymore >_> Glad to see the meter's almost at 90% though. It seems to have gone up realy high since last week.

No ones likes seeing ads, but perhaps for the sake of paying off the outragious prices of keeping the site up (equivilent to a month of renting a 3 story house) you should give site advertising a try.

Say, HR Wiki hasn't had a fundraising drive in 7 years, right? How is it staying afloat?
