the qutoe of the week seems to be much better sound quality than the actual cartoon. Anybody else think this?

If it is, I'm not surprised. They probably dial down the bitrate for the toons to save bandwidth and make them load faster, but don't bother for the QotWs because they're so short.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. The QOTWs are closer to CD quality, and some of the voice work definitely sounds different in higher quality. Coach Z on Strong Bad Sings, for instance.

And what IJ said. They try to keep each flash to around a meg, but each one can be 3-5 minutes. If they used an almost CD quality 128kbps MP3 setting, the audio alone would be 3-5 megs. So the sound quality is pretty seriously reduced in the toons.

Yes, QOTWs are definitely better quality than toons. Except for Homestar Presents: Presents. That one has high quality sound.

Edit: Oh, it seems that An Important Rap Song is higher-quality too.
