I'm pretty sure that it won't be. TBC has talked about this in some interview. They said that most of their stuff come up just hours before the due date, and they like to put things in after the fact, or at the last minute. You can't do that with TV.

What they said...

Also, the way the Strong Bad Emails are made (the humor) can't stand a whole 20 minute (plus commercial) TV show. The comedy the Brothers Chaps use is HILARIOUS in approximately 5 minute chunks. It wouldn't survive on one subject for a whole TV time slot.

Not only that, but TV would probably totally butcher TBC's humor. They'd want HR to be more like Spongebob or The Simpsons, which just wouldn't work with TBC's unique type of humor.

Not to mention that one thing that makes Homestar Runner so cool is the interactivity. How are you going to click on easter eggs on your TV?

:::shudder:::: The very thought of someone putting H*R on TV gives me the jibblies. I mean, as Didymus said, the networks would most likely try and alter the humor and the story. They would probably make it more crude and un-origonal

In otherwords, putting H*R on TV would be a huge mistake on so many levels. I'm so glad TBC arn't victoms to what the media wants. Keep it up guys

Mike just recently encapsulated what they've always thought about TV & Homestar, at the Georgia Tech talk:

Quote:
The other thing is, we do all our stuff, pretty much, we try to put out a new cartoon on Monday. Back in the day, it used to be written and produced all day Sunday, but these days, it's a little more, usually, we're writing Thursday and Friday and Saturday we're sort of recording and getting stuff done, and then Sunday is a marathon session of animating. Um, so everything's written and produced, like, within 2 or 3 days of you seeing it, so it's sort of an immediacy to it that wouldn't be there. That's why we've always not been interested in doing TV where you've got to write episodes six months in advance, and it's just, would lose some of, kinda some of the, uh, I don't know, spontaneity of the writing. You'd, you'd overthink something and not put it in there. Whereas now, we're just like, four in the morning, and like, yeah let's just do that and, you know, it's, it's a double-edge sword. Sometimes that probably yields terrible results but sometimes it's good.

Homestar Runner on television.
Well if they did it wouldn't have the sbemails in... unless the programs were based around sbemails.

I don't think so, I think TBC enjoy the freedom of the Net. But anything's possible...

You know how TV stations sometimes have old shorts in between their shows? I think it would be okay if Homestar Runner was on TV like that.

Yeah, well, I think sometime soon movie theatres will go back to playing cartoons during the trailers and stuff, like they did through the 60's. I think they'd do this to draw in more customers, since piracy and earlier DVD releases are causign less interest in cinemas. So I think if H*R ever made it off the computer screen ,it would be something like that - shorts to play before movies.

(1) I don't think that would make movies more popular...

(2) You'd think movies would be on the way down, but movie profits are still up. They've been saying on the news that it was expected that moviegoing would go down, but there's good enough movies out, people are still too impatient to wait the few months it takes nowadays for dvd to come out, and you still can't match the epic-ness of a good movie on the big screen.

I agree that movies on the big screen are better, but I still think, with pirated DVDs rampant, that theatres will start to dwindle in the next decade. I think making theatre-exclusive content would help draw audiences back...

But toastpaint, no, I don't think Homestar will ever be a TV seires. OR series.

Anyone ever watch Adult Swim? Most Cartoon Shows on there are quick short 11-minute shows thrown together by some fat, sweaty guy in a cubicle who just got a copy of flash and doesn't know how to use it. It would probably be something like that, if they ever do it.

I really doubt it: H*R humour isn't obvious enough to have world-wide appeal on TV. Besides, I think TBC enjoy the freedom of having a net-based cartoon. There's no real reason why they should go into TV.

The only H*R cartoon ever shown on TV was Everybody To The Limit. TMBG were going to make an actual official music video, but never did.

Not to mention the fact that there hasn't been any semblance of a "due date" for H*R recently.

They just do stuff whenever they feel like it.

Not that I'm complaining... but they haven't followed the Updates Mondays thing for a long long time.

Wouldn't fly for T.V.

Gah... Horrid...

Though I am curious as to what kind of changes the tv people would make... Don't worry, I'm not weak of heart! :trogdor:
