Could somebody please explain to me, in a downloadable Word document, on which character has which colour in the subtitles? This info would be very, very useful.

Thanks!

Not really. Thanks for playing though. What I mean is like:

So the character's name is in the corresponding colour. And don't forget to put it in a Word document.

Now, onto more Scrubs!

Why the crap does it have to be so specific?

He told me in PM that the different colours get confusing, and says it's easier to make a word document of all the different colours than to turn on the always show speaker's name option.

DarkEvilCheat2: The codes in the link I gave are hexadecimal colour codes. The first character is how much red is in it, the second is how much blue, and the third is how much green. Letters a to f are equivilant to numbers 10 to 15. Hope that helps.

I wish I knew what you guys were talking about -_-...

Also, shouldn't this go in Help Desk?

It really shouldn't be that hard to tell, I mean, you can see the characters mouths moving, and if they aren't, it's probably a narrator. Or you could just turn off subtitle colors and have the names appear in front of the words.

Well, Rocoramore, I'm getting kinda confused about the colours of the subtitles in the homestarrunner.com cartoons. This thread is trying to help me out.

Shwoo PMed you, DarkEvilCheat. You can convert hexadecimal colors to RGB through a Google search, then find the closest matches to those in Word.

Search "Hexadecimal color converter" and click the first link. Then once you have those colors, find the closest matches for them in Word.

You can't. Ian LIED.

Thisshould do it, though. Just write the hexadecimal thing in the hexadecimal box.

Where is the 'hexadecimal' number on that page of subtitle codes? Just I need to find that out before I can use that 'Maths is Fun' web page.

Where it says, for example:

<speaker id="homestar" color="#F99">

F99 is the hexadecimal code.

I typed that in and it came up with a blue colour. Isn't Homestar's colour pink?

The subtitles page uses a three digit code, and the colour converter uses a six digit code. Try putting zeros after each digit, so that F99 becomes F09090. That should work.

The tree digit code is short hand that you can use in CSS to deal with repeating digits. So #F99 is #FF9999

It's okay, I think I've got something

This shall arrive in a short period of time. Once I've got all the characters down.

Here's a better idea. Now read this vehhhhhhhhhhhry carefully:

On Notepad, type the following text:

<html>
<head><title>(Any decent title heading'll do)</title></head>
<body bgcolor="000000">
<font face="arial">

</font>
</body>
</html>

Now, let's say you wanted to see Homsar's subtitle color, so between <font face="arial"> and </font> you put in this...

<font color="3333FF">Homsar</font>
</br>

That </br> is for a line break so you can add more characters' names and colors in Notepad.

Next, save the Notepad file as an "htm" file, and make sure it's got a name, like "list.htm."

Finally, exit out of Notepad, open up a folder that has the htm file, open up the file, and you should have a big black background with the name "Homsar" in blue and in the left.

Does that help?

Here's an even better idea!

Open up notepad and save it as characters.html or whatever you want .html (or .htm). Then type this in:

Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>(Any Suitable Title)</title>
<style type="text/css">
body{background-color: #000;}

The <style ...> tag states that the following text is going to be CSS nonsense. With CSS you can modify and create elements (tags like <body>). So we want everything wrapped in <body></body> to have a background-color of black (#000000). Due to the repetition, we can shorten down the colour code to #000.

Next type this in:
Code:
pompom{color: #C90;}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<pompom>Anything within the pompom tags will be the color defined inbetween the style tags</pompom>
</body>
</html>

When we say pompom{color: #C90;} we're defining our own custom element (tag, if you will). So everything wrapped in <pompom></pompom> will have the properties we assigned to the pompom tag.

Naturally you can create more tags for characters if you need to. You just type in:
Code:
characterName{color: #<HEXVALUE>;}

I'm not sure why we're assuming you don't know what you're doing.

I tried doing what MikeMcG mentioned, but all I got is a big, blank, black background. And there's no indication of Pom Pom's color at all. Maybe you should display your full example completely. My method worked for me, but I only made it just to gaze at the colors.

Ooh, I thought you were getting at that he was making a website and needed color codes to represent the characters.

Anyways, in the end you should have this as the source:

<html>
<head>
<title>(Any Suitable Title)</title>
<style type="text/css">
body{background-color: #000;}
pompom{color: #C90;}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<pompom>Anything within the pompom tags will be the color defined in between the style ags</pompom>
</body>
</html>

You'll have to find some file host. Search for it on Google.
