Hey you guys,
Just thought I'd drop in to let everybody on here know that our movie, 'Great World of Sound' is coming to movie theaters this Friday. It was executive produced by Mike and Matt Chaps (Matt has a cameo in it), produced by Missy Palmer (who also has a very brief cameo in it), and co-written/produced/directed by yours truly.

The movie is about two guys who are hired to be "talent scouts" for a dubious small record company in the South. Here's a trailer:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/greatworldofsound/

We have a thoraxcorp style "joke" website referencing the movie, made by Matt Chaps:
http://www.greatworldofsound.com/
(click on the "They made a movie about us!" link to go to the official Magnolia Pictures movie site.)

It's opening in New York this weekend at The Angelika Film Center and Lincoln Plaza Cinema. I will be doing Q&As after the Friday and Saturday 7:45pm shows.

It comes out in LA on Sept. 28th at The Landmark Theater. After that, it will be opening at various cities around the country throughout October. It's super important for indie films to have good attendance in the opening week, so anyone in the NYC area who can fit it into their weekend would be our hero. If you don't live near here, but have a friend who lives in NY, then tell them to come out!

Thanks so much for all of you guy's continued support! Ya'll rock!

-Craig Zobel

PS- Just to note, the movie has some harsh language in it. We don't want to offend anyone, so if that bothers you it's better to avoid this film. Thanks!

I forgot! There is a deleted scene of Missy's musical performance in the film up on our MySpace account:

For some reason the MySpace video thingie makes the audio quiet. (Sorry.) While you are there, you should totally be our MySpace friend....

I'll be sure to see this! Missy's "audtition" was hilarious.

Bazooka Joe, you're fired.

I hope this thing comes to PPV soon. I've read a lot of good things about it and I want to see it.

There is one in Rochester, that's only an hour away.

Well, there really isn't any showing that's going to be anywhere at all close to my city, or state really.

Two words: DVD release.

Whoa, this movie looks like all kinds of awesome. I had heard of it before, but I didn't really know you guys had such a big hand in it.

Unfortunately, the closest release is in New York. And since I live in Massachusetts, that's not the easiest thing to get to. So I don't think I'm gonna be able to make this, but I'll certainly be picking it up on DVD or seeing it on PPV.

My thoughts are with you guys, and I'm certainly hoping for your success. This looks like a purely good movie, so I'm betting it'll do really well.

Dern, no Colorado. Omaha looks like the closest showing.

It's only a 20 minute drive for me, so I might actually be able to see it. Sweet.

Seriously though, congratulations to you guys for your success.

This movie looks pretty good, though there aren't any showings near me (the closest one is Washington, DC, though I wouldn't be able to go out that far). I hope this movie gets more positive feedback than it has already. :)

Yeah, like the others said, this looks sorta intriguing, mainly because it's sorta related to HR. However, not only is there not a showing near me, but it's rated R.

There needs to be a showing here in Houston - we have an Angelika Theatre here, and there are no showings for hundreds of miles from here, which means anyone around me (including, like, ALL of Texas and many of the states along the Gulf Coast/Mexican Border) are out of luck for seeing this film without taking a really long roadtrip...and many of us have lives with work and/or school obligations that won't permit us to go take the few days just to see a movie. :-/

I would absolutely love to see this. I hope this film enjoys a long cinema run, but I also can't wait to get this on DVD!

Hey again ya'll-
Thanks so much for the interest, you guys! It's been an amazing weekend here in New York- the audiences have been so great... We've also been getting some reviews that are very kind (which is cool).

I just wanted to jump back on and say that the dates on that list are just the confirmed ones as of the writing. There will definitely be a Chicago screening, most likely a Boston, an Atlanta screening, and several other cities. The distributors haven't locked which theater in some of those cities, that's why they aren't on the list... I'll be sure and let you guys know as we get closer.

I can't wait for ya'll to see it!

thanks again!!
Craig Z

DC on the 19th, eh? Sounds like a good excuse to go visit moms and pops for the weekend :)

From what I read, this looks like it's gonna be an awesome movie and just my style. Good job!

Hm.. looks like the DC date got canceled at some point >:( Guess that's OK, since now I have work that night, but a reschedule to like... the next day would've been better.

Has anyone seen this yet? What did you think?

It ain't Houston, but they do have Fort Worth November 30th: http://www.magpictures.com/dates.aspx?id=70f3c322-970b-4be6-9f0b-fd9faf539361

That's really close from me, but I won't be seeing it as I don't watch R rated movies :(. Sorry Craig. I'll recommend it to my friends that don't get hung up on language like I do, though.

It's going to be in Lincoln, NE on Friday, Nov 16th. Luckily, I'll get a chance to check it out.

It looks absolutely hilarious! I would go see it, but it's not playing anywhere in South Carolina :(

Guess I have to wait for DVD.

I noticed that "Great World of Sound" doesn't have its own Wikipedia article. So is this film just an exclusive one playing in certain places, even in Georgia?
