It's not too bad. If all else fails, you can help out on the STUFF page.

Just because all the transcripts get done too quickly is no excuse to not contribute.

There's plenty of stuff for any capable writers to do.

Like I always say, "There's always something to do on the wiki".

Okay, so I've never said that before.

I've been to the Wiki, but only made a few minor edits. Then again, I've only been here a few days.

Then you've probably have made as many edits as I have. It's not mandatory to make huge edits on the Wiki. I've been on this forum and Wiki for ever a year now and most of the edits I've done were just menial stuff like grammar and things on the STUFF page.

It's funny, but I approached the whole thing from the other direction. I've edited the wiki several times and used it very frequently (usually when a HR quote pops into my head and I need to find out where it came from). However, nothing I've ever left in the Talk pages of any of the various articles in the Wiki has ever gotten a response. Eventually it dawned on me that...perhaps the talking goes on in the Forum.

If I've got a question on whether something is appropriate for inclusion in one of the Wiki articles, would it be best brought up around here, then?

If you think it's relavent, feel free to add it yourself! Also you can ask on the article Talk Pages, if it's a recent article, they'll be watched. Alternativly, you can ask most helpful sysops on their talk pages, they'll be happy to answer most questions, and help you become a regular wiki-master.

I read the wiki a lot more than I contribute to it. Especially since I've discovered the forum, since I split my time between the two now.

How about this for an option:

I can't contribute to the wiki because I never bothered to make an account and it is now impossible to do so!

You see I do occaisionally contribute to it. The problem is more often than not people respond very rudely with:

"Reverted edit of ____, changed back to last version by ____". This is extremely rude and is never anything but annoying. It doesn't explain to the person why the edit was reverted and leaves them thinking they contributed for nothing because some jerk is just going to undo it. It comes accross as a waste of time.

I will say that a few users(such as "Jay") explain reversions when they do them, and this does not go unnappreciated. At least when they do this you can learn what you did wrong and what not to do. But sadly, the majority just don't.

Actually, if you see that generic rollback statement, it's probably because an admin/sysop rolled it back. Sysops have a rollback button to press that makes it easier than going into the history, finding the last unvandalized edit, and saving it. Unfortunately it also does not let you type a reason for the rollback.

I really think that Sysops need to just revert these kinds of edits normal way so that they can write an explaination, and that way the user knows what happened and why it was reverted. The Sysop quick revert method should only be used for trolls and other things that don't need explaination.

I didn't know if this was including the Fanstuff or not, but I just presumed it is, so I went for the top one. If it's not including the Fanstuff, then I don't really contribute that much. It just seems too... formal.

I have made a couple of edits that have been deleted in a matter of minutes.

Yeah, thanks.

Well, you can always ask if it would make sense on the discussion page for whatever article you're editing.

Well, actually the forum was started in May of 2004, so you were only a couple months off. I was a couple months late too; I came to the wiki in Nov 2004 and the forum in Jan 2005.

I read the wiki all the time, but I don't look for anything to edit. I just like to read it and find out things that I didn't previously know about HSR.

I had a chance to work on highschool, but there was a little bar that told me I shouldn't be making any edits... so, um, I didn't...

Just edited the "death metal" article a bit. Geographically, Scandinavia consists only of Norway and Sweden, but in spoken language Finland, Denmark and Iceland are said to be a part of Scandinavia, too.

I agree. Using the auto-revert for non-obvious trolling is illegal in Wikipedia, and we should follow suit.

Well, I did contribute some things, but mainly "Inside References." Mostly they were references to Pizza >.<

I've done some things like minor edits and STUFF'd things, but nothing really major. What I really do is the Fanstuff.

But this bit in the rules, "If you don't have a name on the Wiki, you needn't join the forum," makes it sound as if I will be kicked out! Oh no!

Anyway, I don't edit Wikis because it's funnier to watch other people do it. So there.
