Here's how it's been going. They take a baby break for 5 months in the longest break in the history of the site. They release a toon and main page 26 to say they are back. And they take another break. This is the end isn't it? This has never happened before. They haven't even changed the QOTW yet. Why o why must hey abandon us? I swear if the next toon is xerioxly force, I will go into a catatonic state until the next toon. We need our humor for our blah lives and this is how I get it. I am so sick of seeing Strongbad with tape on his leg over and over and over again. It's no fun anymore. Please Matt and Mike, read this and think about your fans.

I agree. Every Monday, I check homestarrunner.com in the vain hope that The Great Hiatus has finally ended and every week, I am disappointed. Is this the end? Why are we not being told anything? I've watched nearly every cartoon on the site numerous times. We need more new content!

I think they'll be back on June 1st.

Yeah, while obviously I would love to see somthing new before then it would make sense for them to come back on June 1st.

While waking up every monday morning with no update does dissapiont me I am the kind of guy that would never loose faith and stil love H*R no matter what.

I'm done with Homestar. It was a good run.

I don't mean to get anybody's hopes up, but I just watched "Weclome Back", which was the first toon after the first baby break, wherein Homestar explicitly states:



So, if Homestar (and, by extension, TBC) is to be believed, June may be the month things get back to normal for the site. Maybe. I'm just hypothesizing over here. If it turns out to be true, though, I totally called it (unless someone's brought it up already).

How would a line in a toon released four years ago have any bearing on the current hiatus?

I really have to agree on this one. How can TBC expect their fans to stay just fine with them going month after month with no updates? My patience is wearing thin at this point and if this goes on much longer I'll probably end up not coming back to the site anymore

I'll always hold out hope. The Brothers C wouldn't let us down without giving us a big farewell, at least. And I don't see HR dying anytime soon, anyway, they've got a lot of material left to work with, as long as there are fans sending in crazy emails every week. I'll keep sending them once in a while, just to keep the faith. Hmm... this week's topic... what would you do if you woke up one day and found you were the last person left alive on Earth?

I can't believe it! I've sent lots of e-mails to The Brothers Chaps about if they've stopped making 'toons, but they've never replied! Does anyone think they've stopped?!
By the way, I think the scripts are fantastic! It's nice to see how nice they are to their fans (us)!
PS: Can they bring those DVDs over to Australia? Please???

I don't know that you've witnessed many of these things die AnotherGuyNamedDan. Most of the time I'd say internet shows do just die the slow death of fading away. It's fairly uncommon to see any show end with a nice grand finale.

I don't know that lack of content is really the issue but I'm not sure what's going on. It's going to be really odd going forward to see if this hiatus has had a real effect on the shows popularity or not.


Like I said, I'm quite amused to see exactly how this burnout plays out either the show will come back and we'll all shrug it off or I can laugh as the fanbase complains w33k after w33k


what I really don't understand is why there is such a wall between the fans and the creators? Most web entertainment offerings feature a multitude of ways for the creator to inform the watchers about whats happening behind the scenes or whatnot. Homestar seems fairly impersonal by comparison but lacks the certainty that coperate offerings bring as well.

After their last baby break in 2007, they released Where's An Egg?
Shortly before their second in 2009, they showed "Where's An Egg? II" in a SBEmail.

A little unlikely but possible.
