How cool would a Homestar version of Super Smash Brothers be? You'd have your basic characters available right from the start, like , etc.

Then you could unlock rarer characters like as well as the characters nobody likes, like

And of course, the final boss would be , who would then become a playable character.

I wonder if the Bros. Chaps have considered such a game?

Another cool thing would to strike a deal with Nintendo to have and/or as unlockable Super Smash characters.

I would lose SO much respect for the Bros. Chaps if they sold out to the big N.

EDIT: Elaboration time.

It could work, but you have to consider many things. First off, not a lot of characters in the Homestar universe have enough attacks to justify being included in the game. You then have the complexity of including all of these moves to characters, since each one would require a different animation, knockback amount, damage, etc. There are also the added features, like bonus rounds and bosses, which would require more resources to be poured into. All-in-all, Smash Bros is a difficult game to make due to its fluidity, features, and physics.

Now, if you said something like a basic Homestar Street Fighter, then I could see it working. Smash Bros wouldn't be worth TBC's time, though.

Also, using one or two emoticons in place of character names is generally accepted as fine, but when you're throwing so many of them out there, they start to get annoying. The emoticons can be used for anything, really, but I've usually thought of them as replacements for reactions you'd expect from characters (i.e. Strong Mad for anger, Coach Z for random misspellings, and so on).

Another cool thing to think about when making this game is random places to fight in and songs to accompany them. Here's my ideas:
The Stick (Homestar Run Go)
Strong Bad's Basement (Because It's Midnite)
Strong Badia (Awexome Cross 98 commercial music)
Some place modeled after the Trogdor game (Trogdor's song)
Strong Bad's Notebook (a TGS-themed level, so it plays the TGS music of course)
Planet K (Stinkoman's song, including lyrics)
Inside the Horrible Painting (a mix of Halloween scores, including the Goblin's and Roculum's themes)

It is too hard. It will never get done.

Nothing saddens an actual programmer (like me, except I'm not that good) more than people who think they are so uber at programming that they can make something as complex as a Super Smash Bros. game on the fly.

And don't even mention Game Maker: you'll never go anywhere with that.

P.S. This post is directed to anybody who has enough ignorance to think that they can actually make this game. If you are an actual programmer with amazing skills, than please disregard that last statement.

I can predict what is about to be said.

They can be pretty confusing when there's a ton used at once; they clutter up an otherwise great post. I feel like it's just as simple to type out a character's name than to go and click the emoticon for them, and it relates to my dislike of "chatspeak" (though I don't really have to dive into that here).

There is, but you have people who can act a bit jerky towards a question like this. Some of us have provided our reasons to why this wouldn't really work out anyway.

Be awesome if they did something like Newgrounds Rumble http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/381115, then there would be good characters to play as.

ya' know, if blockhead was in there, i would of loved it.....but "you know who" is in there....so it kinda of spoils the magic for me...



otherwise. yes, if they did it like that, it pretty much be the same concept, but with a story line..... a LOT of charecters and non-player charecters, bosses (such as trogdor) and, something that mkaes you want to play until your old and frail.
