I think it's how pretend everything is. It's almost like every toon and email is a sketch comedy show played by recurring actors. They hardly ever make any attempt to take things seriously.

I don't get that feeling, but to me it does feel like the characters are kids playing at being grown up. A lot of them are pretty kid like, especially Homestar and Strong Bad, even when they're behaving like college students.

For me the humour comes from the silliness. I love how messed up and bizarre the characters are. And I just plain love the characters.

For me, It's just the sheer Randomness of it all. I mean, c'mon how often do you walk down the street and see a bone white guy, with no arms and no pants on? Huh?

Everything about the cartoons is brilliant. It's smart. It's clever. It's random, and completely ridiculous at times.

And it's crazy enough to never fail to entertain.

I pretty much love anything that is intelligent AND humorous. That's like the ultimate combination of pretty much anything for me. :)

That's hard to put into words. There are so many awesome things about Homestar Runner: the surreal humor, the occasional intentionally bad grammar, etc. Other times it's just a character quirk like Homestar's stupidity, Strong Bad's ego, Coach Z's accent, or Marzi's tree-hugging. Plus, it's rare to find clean and honestly great humor.

I like that it is completely imaginary and disconnected from the real world. Lots of cartoons now like to slip in some kind of political statement or something. This cartoon is fairly neutral, but pushes the boundaries of that neutrality and subtlety enough to keep it interesting.

Just the sheer randomness of it is great. I don't think it's particularly GENIUS or breakthrough or anything, but the fact that TBC actually put the effort into this stuff and enjoy doing so makes it great. I also like that I've been a fan for so long that I catch most of the inside jokes and feel like I'm in on this hidden... weird universe that many people don't even know exists even though it is so developed and built up from how long it has been expanding. It's fun to know the histories behind things.

It somewhat reminds me of MST3K, with all its random goofiness and subtle humor.

So yeah, in a nutshell, all kinds of stuff. I don't think about it much when I'm watching it. I'm too busy laughing.

i think part of it is how it manages to have a surreal yet realistic (as contradictory as that is) feel.

I like how H*R has the perfect mix of intelligence, randomness, and comedy. And how it makes real-world references and just screws around with them. Gah, I can't count how many times I've seen one of the characters make a reference or generalization of someone or something in the real world and I've said "IT'S SO TRUE!"

I loce charecter intercation and saying silly tihings. Also when someone says something bizzare and homestar has it or walks by with it (the icecream on a cheess board cracked me up)

And a healthy does of Pom Pom couldn't hurt. Homestar talking to Pom Pom about one of his cocamamie schemes: Genius!
