The icons in the downloads section for XP only... do they work with Vista and the chaps just didn't update the page?

They\'ll look like crap because they\'re raster and not vector.

Just try them and see how they turn out. Can't hurt. :)

I'm sure that they'd work with Vista, though they'd be awfully tiny.

Does anybody know if the Mac OS X icons on the Homestar download page are in a larger resolution (128x128, perhaps)? Somebody could probably convert them over to Vista icons in that situation. Or...somebody could create their own Homestar icons for Vista and share them with us.

I can say with confidence that Vista icons are not vector. At least not on the user's end (they almost definitely were while they were being developed). I've opened them up in the Microangelo icon editor and they have distinct sized images in them just like in XP.

Now that that's out of the way, Set 2 is acceptible for most uses in Vista because the icons go up to 48×48, the default size in Vista. (Set 1 only goes up to 32 so it's a no-go.) Even if you use them in places where the view style is "Large Icons", they'll display all right because Vista centers smaller icons inside a border rather than resizing them.
