I've doing some minor edit on the wiki and this is what I got as a confirmation code:

Is that a coincidence, or are there some preprogrammed words? I've never seen any inteligible words there before, let alone name of an actual character from H*R

This must be legendary in some countries.

It was part of the 1 April thing this year (or was it last year? I forget sometimes)... the CAPTCHA was all Homestar-related words, and required even for logged-in users.

The Homestar-related words are all still in there, and show up occasionally just for fun.

Yep. There are (currently) 193 Homestar Runner–related CAPTCHAs out there. They even collect them at the fanstuff wiki (link currently broken). They've found 28 so far (yours would make 29). Others include all the main characters, "On Point Kings", "S is for Sucks", and "Visor Robot", just to name a few.

Ugh. I hate CAPTCHA. I agree that it's the best way to stop bots, but the one on the wiki are near impossible to read so it takes me a few tries before I get one I can actually get right.
Sorry, they just annoy me a little when I get them wrong. :sm:

That's easily fixed by creating an account.

It IS true that the CAPTCHA on the wiki is one of the hardest ones to pass.
It's not likely that there will be any initiative to change it, since anybody who could do that didn't have to use it for a long time and whoever who has problems deciphering it will rather leave or register than demand a change.

I've got an account recently, but I would still say that changing it to something easier to read (and not case sensitive) would make the wiki just a little better.

It's not case-sensitive. The easier we make it to read, the easier it can be read by computer, which would defeat the purpose. Even though it's not the easiest to read, I can still get it right over 90% of the time. Besides, it could be a lot worse.

Just wondering, how often do you need to write it? I'd think that you wouldn't run into it naymore with an account.

Anyway, saying that it isn't the worst is hardly relevant. I'm pretty sure it's difficult to read enough to prevent somebody from editing (I know that from experience - it has happened before, that after failing 2 times, I decided that fixing a typo was not worth my time).

But never mind that. It won't bother me anymore (since I got an account) and this discussion is getting off topic anyway.

Whenever I upgrade the site, I test the CAPTCHA.

We get a fair amount of anonymous traffic, so the image isn't too bad.

I just decided to read this topic today. I went to that site you linked to. Those things were hilarious at how hard they were to read! I am now using one of those for my signature!
