Really? Thanks! And I think a baseball cap kind of suits The Cheat if I'm going to make him twelve. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
Okay, here's my long post about my fanfiction.
I'm a writer! I'm not a very good artist, and it was actually being around good artists in the Homestar Runner fandom that gave me incentive to improve. And now I know that the eyes go in the centre of the face.
So, my fanfiction. Some of it, like Dan Emails and Sherlock's Blog, were hosted solely on the fanstuff wiki. Dan Emails were a spinoff of my fanfic Reality is a Harsh Mistress and concerned my human version of Strong Bad answering emails, and I still have them on my computer I can find somewhere to upload them if anyone wants to see them. Sherlock's Blog was my attempt to make sense of Sweet Cuppin Cakes. Yes, really. I never saved it to my computer, so... wait.
!!!
At the end of 2007, I put all of my Homestar Runner fanfiction into a word document and counted up the words. Then I saved the document. And it's still there. All this time I thought I never backed up Sherlock's Blog, and I still have it! Seriously, I only realised as I was typing this. So I guess if anyone wants to see the almost finished adventures of Sherlock stuck in a crazy universe with crazy people, I can upload that as well.
Now, stuff that's actually online.
My first finished attempt at Homestar Runner fanfiction was Reality is a Harsh Mistress, which is hosted on both
fanfiction.net and
deviantART. It was written in December 2006/January 2007, and, being something I wrote more than two years ago, I don't think it's that great. But it's still the only multichapter Homestar Runner fic I've done where the plot doesn't require them to be out of character for practically the whole story. I really should do another someday. It's about Strong Bad waking up in a world where everyone's human and have sensible names. I kind of made it up as I went along. I don't do that anymore.
My other multichapter fic is
Disenchanted. (
Mature Content) It was written in September/October 2007, and it's an alternate ending to Jenny and Mu's quite popular
Homestar/Strong Bad roleplay (
Mature Content) where everyone's out of character and weird stuff keeps happening. It gives me so many story ideas whenever I think about it. You have no idea. Anyway, in Disenchanted, it turns out that there's an in-story reason for why everyone's out of character. Strong Sad and The Cheat team up to fix it. I'm quite happy with this one. It was a nice change to be able to write something serious, I think.
I wrote a follow-up to Disenchanted:
The Proper Use For Trauma. (
Mature Content, somewhat) It was for a Christmas contest, so I wrote it in December 2007, and it follows Strong Bad as he pretends not to be traumatised by the events in Opposites Attract.
I wrote
Strong Bad's Eulogy in July 2007, at the suggestion of fanstuff member Shadow Scythe. It got about as much attention on fanfiction.net as Reality is is a Harsh Mistress, despite taking an afternoon to write instead of two months. I'm not bitter, I just found that interesting. It's Strong Bad's pre-recordered eulogy that Coach Z taped over in your funeral.
Strong Dad Revealed was written after I played Tales of Symphonia while thinking about Homestar Runner. Doing that was either my worst or my best idea, depending on whether you believe the reviewer who said I was giving homestarrunner.com a bad name, or the reviewer who said I'd restored her(?) faith in today's writers. It's basically what it sounds like, and is also crack.
Ten Things Strong Bad Hates About Homestar Runner and
Ten Things Homestar Runner Loves About Homestar Runner were written in November 2007, I guess. During NaNoWriMo? That's strange. Anyway, they're what they sound like, narrated by their respective character. I think the one narrated by Strong Bad is better than the one narrated by Homestar. Homestar's speech patterns are a bit off in places.
The Nerd Patrol is a script fic I wrote in February 2008, I think. It's a script fic where Strong Sad and the mysteriously existent and comics obsessed Homeschool Winner form a superhero group. When I wrote it, it didn't really feel like Homestar Runner, but on rereading it, it seems okay.
I wrote
Homsar Redux a week or so ago, so March 2009. I've kind of been taking a break until recently. Now I'm trying to get back into it. This is a rewrite of a story someone posted on the fanstuff forums, something that doesn't happen very often. The story was OOC, nonsensical, and used emoticons in place of names, and I thought it would be fun to try and make it make sense. Not sure why I put it up on fanfiction.net, though.
And the rest. I entered fanfic100, a fanfic challenge on LiveJournal that involves writing a hundred fics, and I intend to finish it. I'm about up to story 40 or so now, though many of them are very short. Almost all of my Homestar Runner fanfiction is there, including much of what I linked above. There's one very squicky story that I'd advise you not to read unless you're sure it won't disturb you too much, and the mature content warning for Disenchanted still stands, but otherwise no warnings. Since that link is very descriptive, you can view
every entry tagged with my claim instead, if you want. It has summaries. The one up the top is a series that I will finish once I feel up to writing again. It's half done already.
The Part Before the End, written in March 2009, is not a Homestar Runner fanfic. It's a Sam & Max fanfic, that spoils or at least assumes that you're familiar with the last two episodes of Sam & Max Season Two. I'm linking to it here because there is a Homestar Runner related part. But I don't want to say any more about it because I don't like spoiling my own writing. Okay, summary: Old Sam & Max die and go to Hell.
That's all I can remember right now. Might link to my other fanstuff that I don't hate later.
