I love Homestar Runner but am looking to expand my horizons these days. I was wondering if people could recommend other Flash cartoons, webcomics, or other internet-based entertainment that is done in the same spirit and/or style of humor as Homestar Runner. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I think BiTF's clean humor matches with H*R's, though the style of it is very different. Try it anyway, because it's still very funny.

There's also Barats and Bereta. They're live-action, but they're very funny.

And of course everybody's favorite time waster, TV Tropes.

It's sort of like Homestar Runner, but more mundane. It appears to be based on it.

Ditto. All the characters seem to be watered down versions of Homestar Runner characters.

Yeah, all the voice acting is pretty much terrible.

It appears to be Powered by the Cheat. With slightly better graphics.

http://geoweasel.cartoonsdammit.com/ has some pretty good stuff. They even parody the Compy 386, naming Nar's computer the Compy 387 (although he refers to it as an Apple II and a Commodore 64).

This is going to seem like a shameless plug, especially considering this is my first ever post on the forums, but I am an amateur Flash animator with about 50 cartoons to my name that I can honestly say were HEAVILY influenced by the Homestar Runner cartoons.

I host them on newgrounds (I know I know) and I tried to mimic the quirky style of the HR cartoons as much as possible. That means no cussing, young adult-themed stories, zany cast of characters and mild pop culture references. If you like Homestar Runner, I invite you to check out my stuff. http://uptown-slimjim.newgrounds.com/flash/

Take 'er easy.

This is a strange way to gauge people's interests, but on deviantART a lot of H*R fans also seem to like MS Paint Adventures, and that includes me! I suppose I'll warn it's got swearing and (in the latest story) some really crass and/or creepy sexytimes humour, but they do both invoke the same "ohgod what did I just watch it was beautiful" reaction. For me, anyway.

Dan, you sound like a pretty cool guy! I'll check those out in the weekend if I have time; right now I need to procrastinate loads of homework by posting on some forum. Seriously though in the weekend. :-D

I used to read a comic called Penny Arcade, but I eventually stopped. Maybe you might like it if you can handle M-rated stuff...

Dinosaur Comics is a good choice. It has some of the same irrelevant humor and happens to be (in my opinion) the most consistently funny webcomic out there.

This one is a good start, imo. Keep clicking through the random ones for HOURS OF FUN. HOURS.

Irregular Webcomic. It's made by an Australian guy with LEGO minifigs and some roleplaying miniatures, with different themes, like one parodying Indiana Jones, and another with pirates. I recommend you start with the beginning, then work your way forward.

There's a website I know called "BrainPOP". It's really just an educational website that has flash cartoons about school stuff. Here's how it goes.

There's two main characters, Tim and his Moby, who is a robot. On most of the videos, Tim answers a letter or email from someone and answers them. The messages are all mainly based on school stuff like "Who was Bob Dylan" or "What Caused WW2?" It kinda relates to Homestar Runner because Tim answers messages from people, like Strong Bad, it uses flash cartoons, and Moby looks like Pom Pom because he doesn't talk(Well, he beeps) and he has the orange color.

The only bad thing about it is that you have to pay $900 bucks for watching those toons, unless you know if your school uses the website and have a password for it.

One interesting thing I did out is that they had a video about Frida Kahlo.

I realize you're asking specificly for internet entertainment, but if you watch TV, I highly reccomend Phineas and Ferb. It's a great cartoon with both smart and silly humor. Plus a song in every episode, which is very fun. Here! Listen to some 'o these songs.

A lot of the webcomics I read aren't as kid friendly as Homestar Runner (which I do luv for being so consistantly clean) so... there's your warning before I link things.

Shortpacked - A webcomic about toys, nerds, batman, and all that good stuff.

XKCD - I'm surprized this hasn't been suggested. True, it's not very Homestar Runner like at all, but it's worth a look.

Not sure how many people will agree with me, but this is a comic I like for some of the same reasons I like Homestar Runner: it presents a world that looks like ours at first glance, but is also completely and utterly bizarre.
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja It's the story of an unorthodox doctor from an Irish (no not Scottish, "Mc" names can be Irish too) clan of ninja who wishes he was Batman, and who is probably one of the more mundane characters in the comic. Join him as he fights the evil forces of Ronald McDonald, giant lumberjacks, pirates, dinosaurs, and just about everything else! Just for fun, here are some panels from Dr. McNinja taken completely out of context, to give you an idea of what to expect (linked because it turns out they were bigger than I thought) (Also the horrible jpg compression is my fault, not the comic's):

Oh dude I LOVE DR. MCNINJA. I actually remember a guy here who had a signature with the panel about his family being killed by their greatest weakness! Or maybe that was another forum, I don't know.
(Either way when I discovered where it came from my mind was blown.)

Anyway if we're going to be talking about webcomics I have a bunch that are also awesome.

James Lee, though he only has about five different cartoons as of now, is absolutely amazing, in my opinion. His website is http://www.tarboy.com/.

I can't really think of any flash toons "similar" to Homestar, but for statistics purposes, I also enjoy "Neurotically Yours," "Odd Todd," "Weebls Stuff" "Ebola World," "Floating Hands Studios," "Fat Pie," & "Stain Boy" (which is by Tim Burton). I USED to watch Pucca, before Disney/Jetix ruined it by giving it a TV series & making the characters have voices. All of these shows are either guano crazy & pointless, or macabre & ammusing, so watching any of them is like either hanging out with Homsar or Strong Sad on happy pills.

But I can think of SOMETHING similar to Homestar....this 18 vomume book series called CLUE. Plum is a lot like Homestar, Green is a lot like Strong Bad, Scarlet is like a female Strong Bad, Peackock is a bit like Marzipan, Boddy is a bit like the KoT, White is a bit like Bubs. But only the first 6 books are enjoyable for older readers, the rest are severely dumbed down due to the lack of tallent of the authors that took over.

The Looney Lab
I've watched this show a couple times before. It's like a science fiction style Homestar. Also I think the field looks like the one from Homestar. It has some different segments besides just normal cartoons. there's Movie reviews and Mix and Match episodes (which remind me of summer short shorts) and Ask Indigo (Which I think is just a question and answer show, which Strong Bad pioneered)

Apocalypse Lane
This is a fun internet series. Although if you watch it, watch it in order from first to latest. The first few episodes were unrelated but it soon became a really interesting sci-fi type of series full of plot twists and such.
