I was a regular on the HR site. I've beaten all the WiiWare games (albeit not completed). I've watched every cartoon, including the DVD exclusives and perfect TGS's on the WiiWare. I've seen all bonus content on the site and the DVDs. I've seen all puppet jams.

I even have a Homsar T-shirt.

I don't want to see HR disappear. :(

I don't want to see it end either. But it's bound to happen.

I just hope they come back with a bang to get people interested again, rather than just suddenly posting a random toon one day.

I'm calling it. October 26, 2010 - time of death: a long time ago.

They may still come out with a Ween toon and prove me completely wrong. Obviously, I HOPE they prove me wrong, but I don't think they will.

Comon' man you can't give up. Bechive to alive! You has what it takes! Eccetera!
Besides if Telltale's poker game relises before the end of the year we'll've had another Strong Bad game this year, technically.

Yeah I'm an appaling opptimist. :hr:
But I'm not going to moan about Homestar being dead until an official announcment. That's the sort of thing Strong Sad would do. You don't wanna be like Strong Sad do ya?

How many times do I have to beat this into people's heads? Don't expect any updates until "Monster Safari" is finished. One of the brothers is helping make a time-consuming claymation/puppet movie for the Jim Henson Company.

I have a few thoughts about this, that are gonna have to be explained from the beginning. Firstly, H*R may be "some free thing on the internet", but previously TBC have been creating these free things, in return for people buying relevant merchandise. By that I mean, it was their job!
To me, once you place financial dependency on any effort, you have an obligation to continue - that is, unless you don't need it for support anymore.

To that end, I'd like to highlight what Likala's said, which in restrospect probably says everything I'm saying with a quarter of the length! Monster Safari, as of now, is Mike's job. Matt's job can be assumed to be working on Poker Night. The baby (which hasn't been mentioned here, but we've all talked about it) is irrelevant, now that it's probably well into being manageable.
Crossposting somewhat from the other thread, there won't be any Halloween toon, unless Matt finished recording and Mike has time to spare. H*R's been delegated to a hobby, and it seems they don't have time for it! Decemberween toon is still possible, though, I believe. We'll see what happens. :)

Sounds pretty over to me. If they can only manage one-two updates a year then that's pretty much the end of Homestarrunner. If they don't need it as a job, same deal.

I guess it really is over.

Isn't Matt the one working on Monster Safari? That's what the rest of the internet says.

I'm pretty sure it's Mike and Craig who are writing the movie. If it was Matt, who would be voice acting for Poker Night?

Well, everywhere I've read about it (including the wiki) says that it's Matt working on Monster Safari.

Hello everyone. I know nothing happened yesterday, and reading the comments above and around the forum saying the end of HR, I feel I have to give my two pencil shavings.

I've been a fan of Homestar Runner for a while (at least six years), and I've loved every moment. And, like many of you, I didn't see the hiatus come until it came. Yesterday, I checked the site and the wiki frequently, looking at the relevant Discussion pages, the Updates, etc. When I finally realized last night that nothing was going to come out, I didn't simply go off saying, "Well, that's that," I went, "Well, let's wait for January." So, they didn't get the annual toon out. That doesn't mean that's the end of it. There's the costume commentary, too. So hold out for another week if you can (I'm sure you can). Of course, odds are, that might not happen. So, that's it then, right? Homestar Runner, January 1, 2000-November 7, 2010, right?

Um, no way, Jose.

In 2000, when the whole scenario in Florida happened, I thought, wow, this is going to be bad. And soon enough, I was proven right. I thought, that's the end, the end, the end. But I didn't give up. In 2004, my hopes were raised again, but yet again, I was crushed. But I still kept believing. I still kept believing that someday, someday, my dreams would come true, and in '08, they were.

So I can certainly kept waiting. It's been only seven months, and I waited eight years. And I'll certainly wait until 2017 for Homestar to come back. For Strong Bad to taught someone's horrible spelling. For Homsar to float randomly over the field. For Coach Z to count to two over and over.

When everyone has left the auditorium, I'll still be in there, and I'll say to myself, "I think I'm about to win." But I don't think I'm about to win. I know. And any good fan can know, too.

All you have to do is wait.

Pfft. If Homestar Runner is updated with new content sometime in the future, I'll be utterly stunned. The Chapmans will be making their money from new projects that are guaranteed to be far more lucrative, so I find it difficult to believe they'll bother further with an old hobby that just happened to return a buck or two on their investment.

Wow man, way to stay positive.
Your saying that they basically don't care about Homestar Runner anymore. I think you should let them finish one project before saying that they have completly given up on another.

Pardon my cynicism, but I'm looking at this from the perspective of base human nature and not from a loftier position of hoping for the best. We're seeing this inactivity and silence from two entirely different standpoints.

I think it's funny that anyone would think they would bother with the site after abandoning it for pretty much OVER a year. Staying positive at this point is ridiculous. If they are making money elsewhere they are not going to have the time to make anymore cartoons if they can't even find the time to do more than one little toon in a year. I mean they didn't do much this year and they are apparently working on a movie. Although I don't know where that information comes from, not much to go on officially since they've been tight lipped and ignoring their fan base.

If they make more movies in the future I can't see it being any different. If they are taking a break, then it's been over a year now. Still nothing.

Homestar Runner is dead. Which is a shame. The way it went out was pretty lame.

How about a dare: If Homestar returns by this time next year everybody who said Homestar is dead has to run into the streets drassed as Homestar and cheer how your alive. If By the 22nd of November 2011 there is no new toon I will run out into the streets dressed as Homestar and "cry" about my death.

There. now I've got all the more reason to want Homestar back. If I lose the bet I'll post the resutling incident on youtube.

I can't think of many people who would so willingly assault their own dignity. I've been saying that there's an outside chance that we'll see some new Homestar Runner content, but pushing out the deadline to a year from now is attempting to rig the bet, y'know?

Ok then, I'll up the stakes. The deadline is now April 1st and the update has to be a toon or sbemail. How's that?

This will need to be left up to another cynical soul, unfortunately. My line of work actually requires me not to have physical images or descriptions on the Internet, but we'll see if that's still the case when April rolls through.

Okay, so obviously my above rant inspired not much change in the amount of pessimism in this forum. So I might as well just make this as short as possible.

When TBC said, "We're going to stop Sbemails," after email thunder was released, did we all give up hope and say goodbye to sbemails forever? No. So why the heck should we give up now?

They gave us an April Fool's toon, a main page, and a freaking video game. A freaking video game. They're working on other things and, here's the biggest thing of all: NO ONE BESIDES US HAS SAID IT'S OVER! It's not over until TBC says, "It's over!" Okay?

Oh, and guybrush20X6? Count me in. :-D
