Something big will happen to http://homestarrunner.com/ this June. The word has been spread. The hiatus might be worth it. What is it? It remains a mystery. As time goes by, please post your thoughts on what I call, "The Great Hiatus" here. Don't worry. In June, Everything will change.

To be honest I don't think anyone cares. People have moved on. I haven't watched any HR toons for about 6 months. I now watch The Ricky Gervais Show and Modern Family. Check them out.

question 1's answer: well, it's scattered across the internet, and on second thought, maybe this shouldn't have been posted. I'm not exactly 100% sure.
question 2's answer: not really.

Any links to these rumors? Personally, it doesn't sound completely illogical to me-why would the Chapmans just... stop? Without any explanation or warning or farewell? And if they were truly done, why bother uploading a toon every three months if not to keep people from complete and totally abandoning the site? It never made much sense to me, and I wouldn't be too surprised if something unbelievably huge happens to explain and make up for it all. That'd be fresh. Maybe an online movie?

Then stop visiting the forums. It's like having a drop-out coming into a classroom in his former school & announcing that he dropped out & everyone else should too.

True. Regardless, The runner of the star of the house resets the following summer! The good sibling so said! It is the movie whose everything of the strong world where that "could give with qualification is new; The strong world" and the sibling of small fraud is fortunate vis-a-vis the dragon of the fire. As for the call of creative ones the loud roar was obtained.

Home star runner to return next summer! Brother said that good! It is "all new movie entitled to a strong world; strong world" And the little brother of the fire fraud Fortunately for the dragon. Call creatures got a loud roar.

We have been doing cartoons and scuba gear no further. However, if you own a saxophone, calendar year 2012 is very possible.

Now, none of this really makes sense... I translated it from Japanese. There's a whole 'nother thread on this piece of text right here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16605&p=808201&hilit=summer+2011#p808201

I come here to contribute to the wiki and the community, and whilst I'm here check out the forums.

And if you haven't noticed, I've only posted here two or three times.

Hmm... when you mean scattered across the internet, on which sites besides the "Ben 10 Japanese" messages? Is it possible to provide a link to them or at least just give us the site name?

Just as an offhand, likalaruku, I'm going to use your argument against the "dropouts" from now on. It's brilliant.

You're wrong though. People move on because something gets bad, not because it doesn't exist. If Homestar Runner returns and can still deliver the goods, then the people will return as well. As proof, just look at all the series with extended gaps—sometimes years—in between seasons (like 24, Mad Men, The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm... the list goes on).

I'm pretty sure most people won't. Alot of people have dumped cartoons like SpongeBob example, after their long gaps and suckish quality of future episodes.

Sorry Dot com, but i think he's right. I'll return for anything the chaps put out, but the majority of people probably won't. It would take quite a comeback to regain the momentum they had while SBCG4AP was coming out. And as much as I adore Homestar and the gang, I don't think you can put them in the same category as The Sopranos.

I've been holding off on making this post for quite a long time, and I'd love to be completely proven wrong, but with the absolute lack of any communication, I'd say they're about done.

Crazy Duck In Space, I gotta disagree. Sure, HR isn't as popular as The Sopranos, but it's got a huge following. Sure, it's not gonna regain all of it's followers right away, but once the regular updates come back, and if they're a fan of the site they'll still check back occasionally and maybe see one of the sporadic updates. And even if HR looses some fans, as long as TBC keep making cartoons, they'll have an audience. Cartoon's are what matter, not the number of fans.

I know TBC will be back one day, with regular updates, or at least more regular than what they are now. People get busy, and they wanna do other stuff, so they're obviously going to take breaks once in a while, and with Matt working on Monster Safari, something in his contract may control his work outside of the movie, until the production finishes. And even if HR is done and over, TBC wouldn't just let the site die, they would do something big and grand, and let us know the end is here, no, not because they owe it to us, but because they care about us. TBC care to much about their fans to just forget them, and they care to much about HR to just let it fall off the face of the earth. TBC also promised to finish level 10 before HR was over for good, and I believe them. We just have to wait and be patient, something will happen eventually, and we still updates on occasion, right? That should get us by. Until then, I'm off to wait for the next update.

They're done. They'll keep tossing out an update every 6 months or so to keep the kiddies going to the shopping page, but they're not gonna come back and start updating once a week again. Everyone has moved along by now.

Let's not forget the fact that Flash is being phased out and eventually most people won't have it (face it, it's awful buggy bloaty software that deserves to die) so I doubt we'll be seeing more cartoons from HR, on the web at least.

That's not very true. I mean that's the program that runs all the sites these days.

Well, you're wrong. The site you're on right now is a still living, and growing, community of people who actually care about the site and will stay until something is confirmed about the site. People haven't moved on. You are wrong.

You know what? Just go. Stop trying to convince us. Leave. I'm tired of convincing people to stay. You want to leave. So go. The door's behind you. You just have to step back.

OK, I'll stop talking about it. I'm sorry for the bit of trouble and confusion I've caused on this forum about the movie.

Personally I think the whole bit about TBC caring about their fans is both true and not true. I was one of the biggest H*R fans, since 2003 or so. I believe TBC when they SAY things like they'll finish level 10 before the site ends. I BELIEVE they do have gratitude to all the people who have watched their cartoon. But I don't think their ACTIONS show that they really care.

Let's be real here, there has been next to no information about this movie they're supposedly working on. They haven't given the fans any information at all about why they suddenly disappeared. They haven't given their fan base the courtesy of ANY IDEA of why they're gone outside of a "baby break" that's been over a year, year and a half at this point. Look at AVGN, The Nostalgia Critic or any other thing on the internet with a huge fan following. Those guys never just leave their fans hanging for a year+ with no idea of what's going on. AVGN is taking a break, but he announced that it was for the AVGN movie and to focus on other things. At least he gave the fans some kind of closure until episodes return if they do return.

TBC have, realistically, updated the site twice since Fall 2009 and they missed their big ween episode. It's been more than FIVE YEARS now since Stinkoman 20x6 came out, Level 10 ain't coming. TBC are just the type to say things, mean them, but never get them done. That's all. I e-mailed matt about it in 2007 or so and he said it was coming "soon." That was years and years ago now. I believe he meant it, but it didn't happen. And it won't. And seven years after beating level 9, I won't care much about level 10 anymore. The whole thing is kind of ridiculous.

I think they found a steady job or something and quit updating the site. I don't think it's any one movie, if a movie at all. But who knows. They realized they could still make profit off the store even when no cartoons were being made so they just left it as is. I mean, let's not forget that they highlighted the store during the hiatus. They didn't stop updating the store. I know the chaps are good guys, but I think they've handled this all wrong.

I am still occasionally checking to see if there are any updates. But it has been less and less and less as time goes on. Less hardcore fans probably don't even check anymore.

And on the subject of Flash going out of style. It IS technically on it's way out. It may be 5 years down the road, but a better way to do the same thing will pop up in the not so distant future.

And on the topic of this community being so big and thriving. I'll give you that I see new posts here everytime I come. But this forum is pretty dead compared to anything I've seen, pretty much... anywhere else on the net? It's the same small group of people, posting over and over. Day after day. Regurgitating the same topics, because there's nothing new to talk about except whether or not TBC are going to ever tell their fans anything at all. And obviously they're not. Or if they're going to come back.

Personally, the whole experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'd welcome their return of course. I want them to come back, mind you. But it's not looking like they are. How many years of almost no updates does it take before you really feel the same?

well, on the topic of the forum, there are new people joining everyday. Sure, forums are kind of old, but when you've got millions of h*r fans out there, this is the place to go. Also, like I said before, Flash isn't leaving anytime soon. It runs all modern websites and replacing Flash is like going back in time. TBC don't want to update, because they've been doing it for 10 years, but they don't understand all the new fans that are coming in and choking down the toons and games on the site. Sometimes you'll see someone wearing a graphic tee from the store, or be quoting from some character, but the fan base isn't too crazy because of TBC's lack of updates. People play the recent "sbcg4ap" game series, but are finished in no time, leaving them doing something else for a change. TBC aren't going to update daily, but according to what happened in the past few months, a site revamp is possible. all I know is that one day, the second generation of h*r fans will come to the site. After finishing all the toons, they want more! TBC can't do that. They're tired. They DO deserve a big break.
To end this post, they are not coming out with a movie. Those Japanese messages were fake.
I should of known :p

Thanks for the feedback. I understand you're frustrated. But really, really, REEEEEALLY stop trying to convince us. It's not at all that we're regurgitating the same topics, it's you guys who have given up who repeat the topics. So really, really, can you just leave the fans who are staying alone, please?

It was great having you on the forum. The door's right behind you. I'll open it for you when you step out. I'm reaching for the handle right now.

There's no AVGN movie; he did a superball commercial that never got aired & a short roll in a remake of Planet 9. Plus he also told us he's going for quality over quantity & cutting it down to 2 game reviews a month.

I don't doubt the part of them quitting for full time jobs, with a new baby & the economy burying itself a foot deeper into the grave every year.

I have such a love-hate relationship with Flash. Almost everything I watch or play is on it, but it amps up my CPU intake, slows everything down, & cooks my rig. It's also the number 1 thing to crash on Chrome. I won't miss the flash ads though.

TwiceStyle has a point about new fans; people discover old things every day as something new.

As for me, I can wait decades. Remember that at some point in their history, Futurama & Family Guy were both canceled & picked up again. I've also played this game with manga & video game franchises before. Even Duke Nukem Forever is coming out for real.
