I guessnhe doesn't. My parents don't even know about H*R, and I'm fine with that.

It's either a hit-or-miss thing with most parents. You never really know unless you show them.

My dad, like I said before, just knows about the cd. I play it often when I'm taking a shower, and I sing along. One day last week my mom told me that my dad heard me playing it while showering and he remarked, "That's the worst music I've ever heard. And what's worse, she (me) knows all the words."
At least he can't complain that it's profane.

The problem is that a lot of the funny things on the site are only funny in context... the quotes are only funny because they remind you of the context.

For example, The System Is Down, would only be funny if you'd seen techno. if you hadn't you might appreciate the fact that it's random stuff, but you won't get the whole humour of it. Probably not the best example, but meh.

A friend didn't understand the Stinkoman 20X6 game, but I linked him to japanese cartoon and Under Construction and now he understands the references.

That's the thing about memorabilia - you have to remember what it's from.

Me and my sister love it, my parents know about it. But my dad does a truly terrible voice of Homestar. At least, it resembled loosely on Homestar... :hr:

Sometimes if you lay down a quote it can be funny. Like, when a friend's internet isn't working or whatever, you can say "The system is down, yo." It's a nice little thing to do that will either get you laughs or weird looks.

When I first discovered the site, last June, I showed it to my younger brother, and now he likes it about as much as I do. My older brother had heard of it before, and thinks that it's stupid, for whatever reason. I believe that he said that it had gotten old or something, so I don't know if that means that he once did like it.

My parents would never go to the site on their own. My mom overhears it from the computer, or it being quoted by us, and sometimes finds it amusing, and other times annoying. "Enough about the pants already!" she once said. Then again, she's laughed about some things that we've told/shown her, and once, when I happened to be saying that something was dangerous, she jokingly said, "Dangeresque?". My dad knows next to nothing about the site, though.

Ever since I got bit by one, I've never liked them, but that's besided the point.

A few days ago I was talking to my mom, and decoded to talk to her using Bubs, Coach Z'z, and Strong Bad's voice. Needless to say she was confused.

Nah, my parents aren't really into Homestar Runner at all. I'm not even sure if my dad would know what I was talking about if I mentioned 'Homestar' or even 'the guy with the propellar cap in that one website I go to'. My mom doesn't like it at all. Every time I go to the website, she makes me use my headphones because she doesn't like listening to 'that noise'.

But, uh...my brothers love it!

My parrent like the site to a certain extent. I always go around quoting stuff, which they think is funny, but not for the reasons it is intended to be. My sister also likes the site, but she only sees it from time to time.

Just so you know, the willpower game only applies to posts in the games forum.

My mom and dad know what it is, but nothing about it. They get confused when I quote Homestar. XD

On the other hand, we showed it to my friend's Social Studies teacher, and she loves it now. I brought in my Strong Bad figure 'cause she thinks it's hilarious. We quote Homestar a lot at school too.

My mom likes it. We were having strawberry jam earlier, and she said it was Strongberry jam, Strong Bad's favorite jam :p

Too much bad language? Does she think that crap is a naughty word?

If that is his website, then he's only 8. She might change her views when he gets older.

I feel as though this thread was made for me. :/

My parents (by that I mean my mom and stepdad, my dad's a really cool guy) hate everything that I like. I introduced Strong Bad and The Cheat to my little sister before, and she recognizes them on my shirts and when I draw them. But my parents won't let her watch any emails, because according to them, they are all "that stupid s*** that you watch". And they haven't even watched HR.com. They just judge it because of me being... err... "mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually challenged" as I call it.

My aunt and friends think HR is pretty funny, though. I showed it to one of my friends, so now she occasionally IM's me and asks what's new on the site. My aunt thinks Strong Bad's pretty funny. I think I showed them "sibbie" to start out with.

After my friend introduced me to it in my computer class, I showed my mom a few emails. She had no objections to japanese cartoon, but when I showed her dragon and started laughing at the song and the burning peasants, she was like, "That is NOT funny!" She didn't like video games because it had making out in it and I was forced to secretly go on in computer lab. Then I showed it to my dad who laughed hysterically at japanese cartoon (he's a DBZ & Astro Boy fan) and after a few more emails he said it was okay. Then one day I got permission and went on a rampage of watching emails and playing games. At this point my sister was listening along and found it to be funny. So, we both got hooked and my parents slowly accepted that we watched it (especially when we started reciting teen girl squad). And now I'm going to ask for a t-shirt for my birthday.

My parents think ots okay... I think... My dad walked in when I was watching "interview" and he heard "twas the pride of the peaches" and he just walked out with this wierd look on his face. My mom knows it ecists, but... I don't think she cares. I tried to show her some sbe-mails, but she just says" that's nice" and leaves. Oh, and ever since I put the Homestar sound scheme onto my dad's computer, he hasn't stopped doing this disturbing impression of "Did you remember to saaaave? All of your fiiiles?"

I think my parents find it a bit weird, though my Dad likes :sb: Strong Bad (because I showed him "Everybody to the Limit") and :coachz: Coach Z (because I showed him "A Jorb Well Done"). I don't think my Mom understands it at all, because one time she overheard one of the SBEmails that was from someone with the same first name as me. She thought you could make Strong Bad talk to you and use your name and everything. She still asks me "Do you still look at that...Strong...Bad or whatever site?" or even worse, "How's Strong Bad doin'?" Funny.
