So what do you guys think about The Brothers Chaps teaming up with They Might Be Giants? I for one am really really jealous of them. I love TMBG.

I think I've expressed my opinion in the other thread pretty well.

I heard that They Might Be Giants helped write other Homestarrunner songs

I also heard they don't like their name being abbreviated but meh? who cares

Yup. They did the music for "different town". Check out the They Might Be Giants wiki page.

They also do the Puppet Jams, obviously.

I don't know about them not liking their name abbreviated. I know that their official web site is TMBG.com, which may be an indication, but then again I've never heard them abbreviate their own name on stage or in any recording.

I don't think they really mind much, since they do it all the time themselves.

TMBG is a great band and I'm glad they teamed up with HR.

FYI- TMBG also did the "Malcolm in the Middle" TV show theme song!

And the theme song to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in case I am not mistaken.

Also the Colbert Report and Futurama...ah, they did an ad for Courage the Cowardly Dog...I don't remember if they wrote Why Does the Sun Shine for Nickelodean or not, but Nick did one of their little educational ad things with it. I heard a rumor that they wrote the Beer Song for the Simpsons, but I've never gotten around to verifying it. I'm forgetting some others.

Actually, the theme to the Colbert Report was done by Cheap Trick. I'm not sure about Futurama yet.

Huh, maybe I'm wrong about that one, too. I could have swore it said so in the credits somewhere, but I don't see it in the TMBG wiki.

I couldn't find any composer for the theme song. So it was probably the overall composer for the show, i.e., Christopher Tyng.

TMBG had nothing to do with the Colbert Report or Futurama.

They perform the theme song and incidental music for The Daily Show, but the theme song was actually written by Bob Mould (it's titled "Dog On Fire").

Why Does The Sun Shine is often performed by TMBG, but it's actually a cover of a song from an old educational record. And in case you didn't know, Istanbul (Not Constantinople), New York City, and Yeh Yeh are also covers (originally by The Four Lads, Cub, and Georgie Fame, respectively).

You know they have a Wiki, right?
