User no longer exists.

Did he change his Twitter screenname (you can do that on a whim using twitter) or did he delete completely? I'm kinda sad because it was the last bit of hope that they still existed and cared about Homestar Runner.

I know no one cares about the "i am giving up when..." posts, but I am giving up when it goes a year without anything in the "what's new" area on the wiki.

Maybe he just wasn't a Twitter fan. I've had an account for a year and I almost never look at it.

oh, I know. it makes sense. I hate twitter a lot. It just made me sad. Another little glimmer of hope to see vanish.

I hate it, too. And to think I was the one who created the HRWiki article on the Twitter account!

Yeah, I kind of figured this would happen eventually. He stopped using it not too long after H*R fans discovered it. Once in awhile I check the site and the forum real quick to see if maybe they actually came back. But let's face it, TBC have given up Homestar.

Maybe they burned out on it after putting it out for so long and ran out of fresh ideas and any kind of ambition or drive for it.

Maybe they just got better jobs making a lot of money working on Disney shows and stuff instead of making flash cartoons at home. Maybe they are "too big" for Homestar now.

Maybe they're struggling with how to continue the series in a web that is becoming less and less dependent on Flash, being used more and more often via smartphones that cannot take advantage of flash and if the continued their cartoons would lose some of the interactivity they're famous for.

Speaking of which, maybe that's part of the reason. If htey change the format of the cartoons up they'd have to overhaul the whole site and mannn that would be a project.

Whatever the reason, I haven't really forgiven them for the way they went about it. No information for fans, little contact... just disappeared. Those characters were beloved for me. A character can be so powerful that it becomes more than just their dumb little drawings and silly voices. But if they are aware of it they certainly have not treated their own creation with the respect it deserves. And I kind of lost some respect for them because of it.

The wiki has had maybe one or two updates of any kind in the past several years and the site hasn't had anything new at all in over 2 years. I would feel somewhat satisfied if they'd upload a video of them just explaining what they've been up to the past few years just to say hi.

But ya know what. F 'em...

Oh God, I think I caused them to shut down their Twitter. A couple days beforehand I tweeted to them asking what was happening.

Oh, I doubt it was you. This has been a long time coming.

HSR has meant so much to me. I still have nearly every damn sbemail memorized. (I drop the references a lot, but I don't think anyone ever gets 'em.) I dunno. It was seriously my favorite thing when I was 15~17. It sucks to see it vanish. Oh well. What can we do? Perhaps to them it was just a flash cartoon. Maybe we were the ones that put more worth on it than we should have.

Still, I'd like some kind of last episode and call it a night. Or some kind of end. This is like a bad relationship where we aren't getting any closure. (Again, I'm being melodramatic, but I think its appropriate.)

I have the sudden urge to go sit in a dark, moist corner and pig out on SBLOUNSKCHED! bars.
