I think we should just have a screen shot of the first time here cartoon where it says homestarrunner.net. Have a welcome paragraph and a link to the wiki and to these forums. Also, maybe have a place with the recent updates to the site. Just and idea. |

I am sure we could have gotten hrwiki.com (it may still be out there for all I know). However, we wanted .org to show that we had absolutely no intentions of stepping on tbc's feet. .com implies that we are a company (and potentially taking their business). Since we make no money off the wiki, except that which goes back into it immediately, we felt that .org was more appropriate. ![]() That's right. I'm glad you guys are thinking about what we can do with the hr.net domain. I appreciate everyone who'd like to keep it pointed at the wiki and all these ideas of putting up an image or a flash cartoon, but I think we can and should think bigger. I'd like to see something come out of this that will foster a better sense of community among homestar fans. One thing to keep in mind is that hr.net used to be the most popular homestar fan forum. There's still a rather large group of people who consider themselves part of that community and would love to see hr.net return to its former glory. Marc gave us the domain without any strings attached, so we could really do whatever we want with it, but I personally feel a sense of obligation to those people to make hr.net something great again. Many people have mentioned there would be no point in having two forums, and I agree with that completely. I also feel this forum has outlived its original purpose as a supplement to the wiki. I wouldn't mind moving it or recreating it as the new hr.net, though I'm not sure I comprehend fully how massive such a project would be. I also think a lot of things would have to change in order to make the old hr.net community feel at home. I'm not sure where we would draw the line in terms of the way we like things as opposed to the way they would like to see things done. These are the kind of things that need to be discussed with the hope of finding consensus or compromise, and I'd like to at least get the ball rolling toward that discussion. So, what do you think? Can we start thinking bigger? |

In that case I think we should move the forum to hr.net. But yes, this would be a huge project. Hopefully if we just tackle it one step at a time we could get everything flowing there. |

I like what you said there, JoeyDay. I also think we owe it to the fans of hr.net to do something big. However, I'm opposed to re-creating the forum for the .net people. It would be a great gesture, but a lot of our users would have to change their opinions and standards to make the .net fans feel welcome. The .net had a different attitude, and I think that it would clash with ours. Almost all the users would have to let people get away with more to have them feel like their old community, and, as you know, this forum is unnaturally clean, which is the way I like it. Also, the .net people would be in the dark about a lot of the inside jokes, and that tends to turn people away. We definitely should do something, but a massive change in the forum isn't what I want. Of course, I wouldn't be opposed to simply moving it to the .net domain. But that's just my two cents. |

I'm sure we can do a good job of welcoming the old homestarrunner.net people. Right guys? Guys? |

Erm, I think most of them would probably find this place a little too... how shall I say... immature? They talk about some more adult stuff over at H*Rules, and the forum is very barely about Homestar at all anymore. Plus I've heard at least a few opinions of the wiki that were not so favourable. |

Yeah, that's kind of the point I was trying to make. The attitudes of the place clash. Not to say I wouldn't welcome new members, but it would be hard for them to adjust to the environment here, and hard for us to adjust to their attitude that hr.net set up. Of course, though, the old .net is never coming back. |

I gotta agree with you guys, this forum is much different than any other forums i've been to, and It's great. The problem is, others don't agree with thaqt, so I think we should do something else. i know there's something, and I have half of it, somewhere in my brain, I just need to find it. I'll keep thinking. |

So the thing that's holding some of you back is this forum. You don't want to see its wholesomeness go. I actually wouldn't mind the change, as long as the admins and mods can control everybody. What I would do is just start up another forum for hr.net, but like said before two forums is probably not the best way to go. The word here is compromise, if you really want this ultimate h*r forum to happen the overall environment of this forum (assuming we make this one the hr.net forum) would have to change. Then there's the whole two forums idea. Look what happened at Homestar Rules when someone requested a Religion and Politics board. I don't want this place to turn into that. Would strict admins and mods be the answer? It's a big project. |

I disagree with the two forums idea, there's no real point, and I think it'd be weird for JoeyDay to have to forums going on at teh same time, tlaking about the same things. |

I also think it'd be nice to have all the pages at http://hrwiki.org/wiki/Main_Page instead of http://hrwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page. Well, at least I think it'd be nice since that's how all the wikimedia sites are set up. But that would break all the existing links from external pages, though, unless there was a way to use both. |

I don't know why you're bringing that up here, but it just so happened that I have this page bookmarked. And then there's this for people who want to go all the way. You could probably set up a redirect to fix links from external pages. |

We are? I wouldn't mind switching to /wiki. If it's not too much trouble. But toastpaint. |

Okay...back on track here. Yes, Porple, part of the thing holding me back is the wholesomeness of this forum. I'm pretty sure that if that were to go, I would visit much less frequently. The attitude of this place is what made it the website I visit the most. The way I see it, we have a couple of possibilities and ideas, each with my opinion: 1. Leave it as it is now. Not a good choice, and definitely one we're not going to take. 2. Create something like a toon for the .net people. This one is okay, but I think that it's a little shallow in terms of doing something. 3. Create another forum. Also a pointless idea, most likely will get trashed. 4. Move the forum to the .net URL, but leave the rules as is. One of the best ideas I've heard involving the forum changing in any way. 5. Move forum and include new rules. This one I don't like. The wholesomeness of the forum will ebb away. 6. Same as five with harsher mods. This one's okay, but not as good as #4. 7. Trash this and make an entirely new forum. Not good at all. And too extreme. Everything done here will be lost. Those are just a couple of my ideas, and comments. All I'll say is I don't want the forum changed significantly, but if it must be done, my vote's for #4. |

Honestly, I'm pretty sure that there was alot of people working on .net before the exchange of ownership. While it is entirely up to you, I'd at least like to know what direction they were going in before making a decision. |

I think it should redirect to homestarrules.com. As DJ The stick has said, "We're the spawn of .net." Speaking of dot net. Wasn't your original dot net name Cherry Greg? (Or something close to this) |

![]() Actually, there's a website called HRwiki.com. It has nothing to do with Homestar Runner at all. I think it's german or something. |
