If im not mistaken, the homestarrunner website was made with macromedia flash when it started, and as far as I know it is still using it. But the homestarrunner site is (if you look at it from a money point of view) using macromedia flash to promote its toys and items for sale.. so isnt it illigal to use macromedia to do that? or do they have permission? Any ideas to throw around please tell :)

that is why the professional software is so expensive, because in addition to buying the program you are also purchasing the license to do whatever you want with what you make, including market stuff. You don't really think the thing is worth 850 bucks do ya? since the education version is like, $250. It's the same with adobe photoshop.

It's darn expensive to be a graphic designer these days...

oh well. i'll get all of it eventually. someday...

 oh i didnt know that. Well, I myself use macromedia, but Im just a rich kid and I woudve never, EVER gotten a serial number. heh. ;) *cough* *cough* in the situation that I DID get a serial number then I obviously would get like, attacked by viruses that delete macromedia or something.. or would I be able to use it for commercial stuff.. mm I wonder..

yes yes... serial numbers BAD! *cough* ;) *ahem*

see in the situation, hypothetically speaking, where someone did get a serial number, technically they have not purchased the license to use Flash for commercial use. By making anything with it, they take the risk of losing all profit gained from the Flash thing they made, not to mention some extra fines for having an "illegal" version.

ouch. but supposeing it WAS the officiol version, just a free trial. when the trial is out, you are asked a serial number, if its wrong, it closes on you. So, supposing there WAS a way to get a serial number, it woudnt be an illigal version would it? but I get the point :p thanks!

the only way to get an official serial number that doesn't involve a hack is to buy the product. And if you read closely in the trial version, the stuff you make with that trial is only licensed to you for as long as the trial period. Or something limiting like that. I think.

Hmm. That means all those wonderful toons I've made were all illegal (j/k, maybe -_-) .... seriously, I didn't realize that is why those programs were so expensive. Your purchasing the "license" to do whatever you want with what you create using their product. I guess that makes sense.

Well that explains why Photoshop/Flash are the most expensive (yet awesome and useful) programs on my 'puter.

Yes, and that's not good. You could get arrested for that. Tell me, would it be worth it?

It is unlikely that most anyone will get arrested for anything like that. Although it is possible, I doubt it. I know people who have been doing things like that for a very long time and in most cases, they hardly use the program for anything anyway. Most of the time people do this to learn the program or see if they could really work with it without having to rely on a free trial. One of my friends who shall remain nameless has pretty much every popular program downloaded and hacked or he found the serial #... he never uses them... but he has them. Although illegal, I doubt the FBI will be knocking on his door anytime soon.

On a sidenote. If he tried to SELL them afterwards or something like that, he probably WOULD get caught. It really depends on what your doing with it once you have it.

A relative of mine got busted in the 80s when they copied videotapes from a video store and then tried to sell them at a cheaper price through a Flea Market. *shakes head*.... how dumb. Didn't they ever notice that giant FBI Warning. lol.

jeez u guys (the 3 up execpt for powercrunch :) ) are very dull, Besides, if u read up i was talking IF! im just a rich kid and bought it. Anyhoo, as powercrunch said i woudnt get caught, and dont be such an unfriendly person. Its almost a fact that everyone who has internet acess has ripped or something of that kind.

FYI: idoit, I didnt say it wasnt illigal, i said it didnt need a hack :((

btw, uh... nice rich person... would you like to buy me a christmas present maybe... like, flash 8 professional? :P

We're not trying to be meanies, we're just saying that it's wrong to download Flash and then try to find the serial number.

Hmmm... not even if you plan to buy it eventually and just need an extended trial, hypothetically?

LOL I would so believe it, man. Well, I doubt it but I can't say I'd be shocked if it was true. Totally unrelated, but I will never forget the "McDonalds Monopoly" incident... I seriously wasted so much on buying them darn fries and cokes and way out at heaquarters all the bigwigs were gettin the prizes... I never eat there anymore. Oh, uh... toastpaint...

photoshop is complicated O.o i dont like it.. Open canvas makes me feel at home :) what happened? the more you eat the more prizes u get and then only the guys that worked at mcdonalds won? mm that happens alot. All those prizes are BS, on most there is no chance of winning, in the fine print, or you have to be there on a monday at 10 o clock if u win or u dont get it.. thats lame O.o
why would u get an extended trial not legally when you can get it free! XD whats toastpaint?

Yeah, don't steal serial numbers. Bad things happen.

And hey, if you want a great alternative to photoshop for free, try Paint.NET. It's what I use, and it has almost all the same features as photoshop.

Photoshop is quite possibly the best program (next to flash) EVER. I have made lots of cool things with it... for example:

http://bleed.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=49570
That is something I cooked up when I was still getting the hang of PS. If you know anything about Dragonball you might understand why I did that. lol. If not, just enjoy the energy blast I'm firing out of my hands.

But you can do artistic things too, like I made this by basically painting in photoshop and using some filters...

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/bleed0range/bgspace2copy.jpg

Just some examples of how useful this program is. I've done a lot of Flash but nothing worth showing. lol.

are you joking?

of course they can use it to promate things! thats what flash was created to do! why eslse would somebody buy it? I myself have the educational version, and the proffesional version is much much much more expensive.

1. What's the difference between educational and professional and

2. How much to these things cost?

I'd be totally diggity underdrawers with having Flash, but being a poor lil' starving artist, I'd have no idea what sort of bite it'd take out of my (currently nonexistant) budget...
