If this has ABP'd, sorry. I know there are threads that are slightly related to this topic, but I've searched around and I can't find any specific ones.

Anyway, after casually mentioning H*R on several occasions to my best friend (and also finding it a bit difficult to actually explain it), yesterday I had him borrow the first three discs of strongbad_email.exe. I also wrote down several of the E-mails that I think are the standouts and/or are important to the general flow of the H*R world. He's only seen a few of the classics once in the background at a gathering a few months back, which wasn't really enough to make a definite impression, but hopefully this weekend will get him to H*R fandom! Amazing as it seems, I've only met one person in real life that I know for a fact is a fan, but she's not someone I particularly get along very well with otherwise. It would be much nicer to get my close friends into it.

How successful have you been at getting real life friends into it, and do you have any "plans" for conversion?

I tried. I did- a lot. But it's never worked, and over time I've kind of... stopped. My latest endeavor was showing my friend... I think it was "pom pom" while we were working on a school project. She laughed, and we went through a few more, and she even bookmarked it! And I left, thinking, she's totally going to thank me some day. So the other day I ask her if she ever went back there and- after really badly explaining to her what it was to jog her memory- she was like, "oh... nope." And I had to change the subject really fast to hide how hurt I was. But it's her loss, I guess...

So now I kind of assume that nobody around me knows about H*R unless they comment on my backpack (a homestarmy patch proudly displayed, along with "save AD" in big letters, but I digress). This one kid even did his Homestar voice for me... well, it's the thought that counts...

Heh, I put on the SB DVDs last night as my sister and I were organizing our closet, and she was laughing so hard she was crying (she was also convinced Hank Azaria was the voice of Coach Z oO; Silly sister.)

I've not met too many people in real life who like it. But we'll see how many people I get talking to me after I paint my canvas bag =P My small, green bag proudly has a hand-painted Irken insignia on it. My larger, red back is totally getting the Homestarmy poster. I just need to buy some more red fabric paint XD

I know several people that are Homestar Runner fans. They got me interested in what is was when they made jokes on what I later found to be Teen Girl Squad.

I'm not sure if I've ever converted anyone to the light side* before. Most of my friends either already knew about H*R or found out independently of my mentioning it. I've converted quite a few to the dark side* though, usually by finding an episode that makes fun of something they like.

*Flash cartoons are the Force. This cannot be denied. The dark side is, of course, Bonus Stage.

I managed to get a couple people to watch it. But, I doubt they're all out fans because of it. It's really hard to introduce someone to H*R unless you go through all the things on there (it makes the inside jokes funnier).

I've told every living human being (Or rather, all 10 of my friends) about H*R. 8/10 don't care. 1 doesn't even have SOUND on her computer so all she could go on was peasants quest.

My friend Rachel though.. I managed to get her, her brother AND her sister hooked on it.

My mum and brother seriously don't understand it or the importance of it to me though.

I got sucked in via a mass conversion--some person on another message board linked to the Fluffy Puff Commercial, and I thought it was really funny. I haven't converted anyone I know of--everyone I know/like is already familiar with H*R. However, my little sister introduced our cousin Savanna to it... she didn't seem too impressed though...

i tried today. my algebra class, we were hanging out, i directed my teacher to the site, she said "If theres anything Nasty or bad on here, your gonna be written up!", and i showed them all Bug In Mouth Disease... they looked at me like im an idiot.

I think the best thing to show first is dragon, mainly because almost anyone will like it, no matter what hey're taste in webtoons is. Then, once they see that the site is good, they'll be mroe apt to like things like the toons.

Well, I did get BTG into H*R, along with a few other friends. But they're just casual fans, not hardcore fans like BTG or completely obsessed fans like myself.

My friend Ian knows about it, he's the one that introduced me to it, but hes not as much of a fan as I am. My friend Steve absolutley hates it for some reason. I tryed to get my friend Dylan on it, but I ended up getting his brother liking it instead. But I always wear my t-shirts and show my friends the website on the back and make them write it down.

I've tried, unsuccessfully, to convert a few people. I gave up after awhile. My best friend has learned to live with it, since she has to hear about Homestar pretty much nonstop to be my friend, and I managed to convert her brother. I feel a bit sorry for her. She can't stand Homestar and she has to hear about it from me at school and her brother at home. It seems like everyone I actually try to convert ends up hating it... or already hates it.

Let's see... Whenever I wear my SB shirt in school, I get a lot of people asking who he is. I give them the URL to the site, and they toddle off happily. But I usually never speak to them again after that.

A lot of people I know were already HR fans when I met them. Like my best friend Alexa from camp, and Jess, who's actually on the Forum and stuff.

Other way around for Me, I was the one converted , I tried converting some people, but all My attempts failed.

The guy who got me onto basically did something like this: I was on walking past him in P.E., and he said something along the lines of "Hey, go to Home Star Runner Dot Com." I said okay, and then didn't think of it for at least a week or so... until I finally got on, watched the King of Town DVD, and discovered the Strong Bad Emails, just around the time "sb_email 22" (the lost email) was released.

So yeah. I wasn't formally introduced, it was mostly my own doing. A good friend of mine also knows about it, but I didn't get him onto the site, and I don't know who did. My siblings like it, but they're not hardcore fans like me. Umm... and some guys thought the Cheat was Pikachu when I wore my shirt to school.

I have a cousin who has seen homestar runner cartoons numerous times (basically everytime he's at our house). The only one he likes is the Fluffy Puff Commercial, he thinks it's hilarious, but he thinks the rest of the site is dumb... I don't know what to do with him...

It was my prom date way back when that introduced me to H*R. I think it was Japanese Cartoon that she first showed me, since we both like anime. Good times.....

I have shown a lot of friends and while they think it's funny... whenever I go and ask them if they've seen a recent toon/email they haven't. They never check the site out. Not die-hard, weekly checkers like myself and the rest of you guys (most of you). lol. And pretty much none of them, as far as I can tell thus far, play ANY of the games. Peasant's Quest is awesome! But my friends won't play it or even try to beat it. Stinkoman? Too hard for one of my friends. TOO HARD?!!?! He grew up on Mario and Sonic just like me! CoMe oN GuYs!!!

I've met 3 people from school and sports stuffs (not including their families) who are fans of homestar runner. I've also introduced alot of people and had my entire year addcited at one stage. However, those who I know personally usually get over it or just forget to go back. The people I've directed to it online are usually the ones who become long term fans becasue they are on the internet so often.

It's cool to spread the word and get it going as a big thing, but I also enjoy the more fun, "cult" like side of being a fan. It makes it more personal and less corporate - plus it means my emails get a better chance of reaching his heighness.

...I can't believe I just now realized what her "Possums..." shirt was about...
