It is. Unless it's the 700 club website, then it's just full of morons.

Ehh...yeah.....

And considering there's an episode of Arthur where DW is swearing half the time (bleeped out) that's practically nothing.

Underpants aren't vulgar--everybody wears them, and they're a frequent subject of grade-schooler humor. *shrugs* What can I say? Little kids find odd things funny... there's even kids books about the history of underwear and the like.

Let's consider this: Homestar Runner is independantly run. If they wanted to be vulgar and rude and curse and smoke and drink ... they could without fear of their advertisers bailing out (because they have none). For something that could very well be disgusting and vulgar, and has every chance and right to be, it's just about the cleanest thing ever. The mention of 'naked ladies' is not exactly something you'd throw a warning on.

Nah, H*R is good, clean fun at a gradeschool level.

Well... *cough* I could see how some people could take it to be... um... vulgar... because of the way Texas looks when the U.S. has underwear on...

Don't ask me to explain it more than that.

I think they've actually gotten less vulgar than before. Not that I have a problem with a teeny bit of vulgarity. It'll be vulgar to me when they enter into blasphemy and stuff like that.

Something just occured to me. I don't think gradeschool kids need corrupting, because I just recalled an obnoxious ditty I learned in, like, first or second grade...

I haven't heard that one, but I have heard the other story of Jack and Jill.

One thing that surprised me was in Space Program when the narrator said "Hey! You're not smoking a nice relaxing cigarette at all!" And then the NASA guy starts smoking and the narrator's like "That's more like it!" or something. And the whole naked ladies thing caught me off guard too.

Although, why do you guys think the Tandy emails were worse?

I'm guessing the reason people think the Tandy e-mails were worse might have something to do with the fact that they were just a little more edgy--like the one about flipping the bird, and a few other things. To be honest, although I can personally sort of see it too, I'm not sure how to phrase it.

okay then.
why do people always use the argument "but it was based on a childerens book!" it's obviously not anymore.

I think it is. The Children's Book still had the absurdist roots, and that's really why Homestar is still about: weirding you out.

okay, i've thought of an argument:
H*R is NOT inappropriate. why, you ask? compare it to the simpsons. there are no 'football in the groin' type jokes in H*R.
i rest my case.
okay, so it's one little detail, but it counts.

H*R has humour of all types, that's why it's such a success, and some people appreciate vulgarity more than subtlety.
