Not quite my taste*, but I actually thought it was a strangely...loving parody...

Vulgarity can sometimes be the height of comedy, when it's done right. And I think he mostly did it right.

PS: The Of Mice and and Men quote and the 80s reference were precious.

*Regardless, Shmorky is still a mad brand of genius

Yes, yes you are. Do you ever look back at your posts and realize what you actually said?

Ugh. This thing was not to my tastes, though the animation was pretty good. I think it could've been done just as well without the vulgarity.

Okay, before I suffocate, I'd like to say that was...weird. It made me laugh in a few scenes, but it's still weird. <_> *suffocates from bag*

Shmorky, keep up the good work!

Uh.. we did understand it. We understood exactly what you meant when you wrote, to some random guy who insulted you on another forum, with what we have no choice but assume was a straight face, the words, "Know that i am your Downfall." But unlike you, we immediately understood how absurd and ultimately hilarious that was. Ergo roffle.

Eh. I thought it was fairly decent. I liked the Of Mice and Men reference, and maybe the whole "Xbox" part, but the rest was...meh. Guess it just wasn't to my tastes.

I don't dislike parts because it made fun of Homestar, I just...didn't find it too funny.

Whatever, though. He has a right to make it, no matter what I or anyone else thinks. And apparently a whole mess of people loved it, so if I was him, I wouldn't care less about the people that don't, and keep producing stuff like this.

Please think about this. Shmorky knows about this place. Assuming he did not just find this from the site logs (why would he have access to those?) he is likely a Homestar fan. QED.

Uh.. because you type like a 6th grade AOLer and--news flash--nobody is menacing on the Internet, ever (unless you're a mainstream journalist or elderly, in which case everything on the Internet is menacing). I'm really not trying to push your buttons, COLA, I'm just trying to lay out the facts for you.

Methinks you have to take another look at what "Parody" means.

Seriously, look up parody. I'm 100% sure that what they did with H*R is lgal, no matter how much you dislike it.

I have looked up these laws in the past, being a flash author myself. There is nothing wrong with a parody.

"Every email is stupid! RECYCLE BINNED!!"

HAHA... That's funny stuff. How can you not like "RECYCLE BINNED!!"? or "I was just returning an 80's reference!"?

F'real... a good parody. Vulgar, but some funny stuff in there.

If you people want to get all bent out of shape over this, you need to get around the Internet more. Don't forget that there are other Flash cartoons (which other people base their life on) getting mocked, so don't feel picked on.

I'm late to the thread and haven't read all the way through it, but have you seen the Easter egg at the end? It's a Marzipan's Answering Machine parody. They mock all the characters (pretty accurately). Funny stuff for crazy people like me.

You know, I can take a joke just like anyone else. I have absolutely no trouble with a H*R parody.

I just ask that it be, you know, funny.

I personally love Something Awful, but the Flash Tub... suuuuuuuucks. Grotesque, mutated drawings, set to grotesque "hey look at me I'm doing a CAHRAZY voice" voices... I dunno. I find it really hard to laugh at any of the jokes when they're presented like that. I liked the digs at H*R, but... I would have liked them better if they were actually presented in a funny way.

I feel like Roger Ebert watching an Adam Sandler movie. ("Instead of Strong Bad, the main character is Dong Dad. Ho, ho.")

Exactly! Vulgar and twisted does not automatically equal funny. Swearing does not automatically equal funny. Though I occasionally like a little lowbrow joke now and again, and a well-aimed four- or five-letter insult can be hilarious, cramming it all together doesn't instantaneously mean we're all going to be laughing our heinies off.

I mean, heck, some of the funniest flashes I ever watched (outside of H*R, 'course) were squeaky-clean. One I can think of off the top of my head is the "All About Random Battles" 'toon with the cast of Final Fantasy VII. No swearing, cartoony violence at most, and nothing really obnoxious either. Still a parody. And it's still really funny.

I love that one!
And I definately agree that this recent FlashTub it was a little giggle-worthy, but not a knee-slapper by any means. The Of Mice and Men reference was funny and I thouroughly enjoyed "I'm returning your 80's reference!" But the rest of it was just irritating and a little uncalled for. And the "It's in my pants." punchlines were just... how is that even funny if you're over 12? (I don't mean to insult anyone who enjoyed that part and/or is 12, of course. Just personal opinion here.)

But overall, I can appreciate a parody, even though this one in particular was mediocre at best.

Were you talking to me man? I wasn't telling anyone how to react. I was just saying don't take crap like that too seriously. I finally got around to watching it and yeah... I suppose that whole sincerest form of flattery thing was a bit of the mark. Apart from the of Mice and Men refence it was just felt like childish name calling from someone who will never be as acclaimed as TBC or any of the other sites they made fun of.

Whoa.... Pretty hilarous comment there, chief. Very deserving of a trophy full of Steak-uums.

I found the toon disturbing. Those grotesque character designs are still haunting me several days after watching it. But, hey, some people go for that humor. So good for them.

However, I must say that if South Park did an H*R parody like they did one for "Family Guy" for the last couple of weeks, well... that would be pretty cool.
