50 best Web sites: readers on Arts, Kids, Info Is this old news? Originally posted in March. But there's a new one dated April 24, 2006. "Somewhere between Japanese anime, old video gaems and an archic sitcom lurks this deliriously inventive and funny site, a sort of loose chronicle of the life of the childlike title character and his nemesis, StrongBad [sic]. You'll go with your kids, but you'll come back on your own." Two images from the newspaper forthcoming... |

Here's the original article (previously discussed somewhere on the forum). This new article has a link to the wiki and quotes yours truly as well as Teff: Quote: Homestar Runner Wiki
(www.hrwiki.org): “Every fan of [top 50 site] Homestar Runner should do him or herself a favor and visit the Homestar Runner Wiki, an obsessively detailed fan-created knowledge base of every cartoon, game, easter egg, and pop culture reference on the site.” “Check out the forum (forum.hrwiki.org). We always want more people.” I wonder if this will make it into the print edition. |

Like I said, the first quote ("Every fan...") is from me, the second ("We always want more people.") is from Teff. |

I dislike it when Homestar Runner is labeled "for kids". |

Well a first glance will make it seem that way. When I first got the link to the site I figured that's exactly what it was, a cartoon site for kids. They never call it FOR kids, but say you'll first look at the site with 'em and then come back on your own. After all the time spent at Newgrounds.com or watching Happy Tree Friends, I figured if Flash animation was going to be funny, it would be raunchy. Then all of a sudden I get shown H*R, watched "First Time Here" and a few toons and just about died laughing. The next day I watched all the emails that were there at the time, which I think was in the 60-ish range. |

It gets that label because it is safe "for kids." There are only a few things out there that appeal to kids and adults. Usually things are either a) inappropriate for children or b) intolerable for adults. The "for kids" label is just there because you wouldn't need to worry about recommending to children. |

Congratulations for the wiki being on there, but I think it's kinda weird that the wiki's there and not H*R.com itself. |

This is a follow-up on an old article, which did have Homestar Runner on it. |

H*R is perfect for anyone of any age with a sense of humor. That's why it's so popular. I'm glad people of all ages like it so much, and you can tell that TBC put a lot of effort into including everyone and not making the environment exclusive or alienating. |

What HippityHomsar said. "Clean" flash humor on the web is quite rare. Even sites that have some clean things on them also tend to have raunchier stuff. (Weebl's site is a prime example. There's some stuff there, like the ever-popular Badgers, and Kenya, that I wouldn't mind showing my little sister, but other stuff I'd keep FAR away from the kidlets.) So a site that's all-over clean, and all-over funny, is a breath of fresh air and wonderfully enjoyable. |

I was thinking about the servers. But hey, at least they'll be more donations! |
