What kind of wiki do you want? What will it be about?

The first step to making a new wiki is: Google it, 'cause somebody else did it first.

If that wiki isn't the victim of vandalism, I'm a bit perplexed.

EDIT: Heh, nevermind. I guess it happens to everyone now and again.

I personally don't thinkn an amatuer wiki is a good idea (especially if there is already a more popular one out there) since without people constantly patrolling the recent changes there can be a lot of vandalism.

"Amateur wiki"? What the heck are you talking about? There's not a successful public wiki out there that isn't managed more or less exclusively by amateurs. Like oh, I dunno, ours?

I guess I should have phrased that differently... Newbie wikis?
What I mean is a wiki managed by only one or two people that has little chance of gaining popularity due to another more popular wiki on the same subject.

Well, the latter is true. Having two competing wikis on the same topic is counterproductive and seems to go against the wiki spirit. As far as newbies in small numbers, though, I disagree: JoeyDay started the HRWiki all by himself without much wiki experience. It took awhile to take off, but when it did, wow.
