I think you're gonna have to be a bit more specific. No, the tool does not have any "ailment," except for being beastly hard to customize.

Go to Tools > Manager User Scripts... then click on the script (phpBB Auxiliary Emoticons) in the list on the left and click Edit. Make sure you have a text editor set up edit .js files, e.g. notepad. Then find the line that says:

Code:
var setUrl = 'http://swirlee.org/emoticons/sample.json';

And replace the URL with the URL of the emoticon set you want to use, e.g.:

Code:
var setUrl = 'http://swirlee.org/emoticons/owls.json';

Then save the file and every time you post you should see the new emoticon set.

Okay, I think I did it right. But I can only have one of the sets you're hosting installed at a time, right? Or did I mess something up somehow?

Yes, that's right.

You'll probably want to use either Speck or Ed's code, MHG. The owls are nice, but I think it'd kinda get annoying with just them, and not things like Image.

OK, now I'll admit that JavaScript is basically the only language I don't know, but I think I can help a little here even if I can't implement it.

I think I have an easy way to allow for adding multiple icon sets. How? Make setUrl an array. Then, when calling fetchJSON(), rather than making data{} being the response from your xmlHttpRequest, concatenate the new data to the end of data{}....am I making sense?

Sorry for my lack of JavaScript knowledge. If I knew it i'd probably have already coded my solution. I'm sure IJ's well into this already, but it can't hurt to throw my $0.02 in. :mrgreen:

EDIT: ok that was a stupid bit of code.

And... did you install the script (Greasemonkey and the pAU script are two different things, you must install them one at a time).

I wish to add more, but I think I read that you need to take some lines out of the script and add more, right Jones? I'm no good with that crap.

If you want people to help you solve your problem, you have to actually describe your problem, i.e. what you're doing, what does or doesn't happen when you try to do it, etc.

Oh, sorry, my bad.

Yes, you have to make sure you have a program (e.g. notepad) associated with .js files. Try this: Make a file on your desktop and call it something.js. Then right-click on it and click on Open With. Then choose Notepad, and check the "Always use this program" box. After that the Edit button should use Notepad.

Well, then your compy is haunted.

I recommend waiting until the next version is released, whereupon most of this editing nonsense will be eliminated.

Well, hosting it is as simple as uploading it somewhere. If you have a version of the script that you've edited and want to just use it yourself, though, you can just open it in Firefox (make sure its name ends in .user.js) and click Install. You may have to uninstall the old version first.
