If you notice 1936 is almost the same as 20X6. So it could be 2036! Although it's probably just my imagination. Beef Stew.......

Presumably it could be 2006, 2016, 2026, 2036, 2046, 2056, 2066, 2076, 2086 or 2096.

When I first saw 20X6 being mentioned, I always thought that it would be so much in the future that it's not a chronological year anymore.

I think it's just a reference to the Mega Man series of video games. For example the introduction to Mega Man 2 starts with, "In the year of 200X..." Mega Man 5 takes place in 20XX. Mega Man X 3 takes place in 21XX. Also, note the fact that the Strongbad cartoon character looks an awful lot like Mega Man, and is named Stinkoman K.

The X could be there so there is no definte date. It could be there until the date that the world really looks like 20X6. I mean, if TBC set a date, and the world didn't look like that, there would be disappointment. Remember the flying cars and robots we were promised in 2000? Well, where are they?

Deep deep dig but this at least promotes some discussion so I'll let it be.

Hey...you've got something there.

Except for the whole issue of renaming Earth Planet K, developing super powers, creating artificial intelligence and making intergalactic space ships in 10 years. Other than that it's a pretty solid idea ;)

Wouldn't that make it 20106?

Or maybe that's why it's on Planet K, not earth.

But then how did SB's time Capsule get there? I think that 20X6 is 2106 since X is the roman numeral for ten and it doesn't make since to go 2076 2086 2096 20106, Its my theory that in the future people will adopt a base 11 system.

Homsar's blog said that, too. (Unless you're the creator of Homsar's blog.. then you jsut said it twice.)

I'm totally the creator of Homsar's Blog. Anyway, here's my 20X6 date theory. In Tampo Emails (another Fanstuff), it states that the "exty calendar" was established in 2041. I take this to mean that the world switched to base 11 in 2041. Using this theory, I preformed some extremely complex mathematical equations.

// Years from when the Exty calendar was introduced to 20X6
20X6 - 2041 (in base 11)
// Base 10 Conversion
2778 - 2707 = 71
// Back to Base 11
2041 to 20X6 = 71 years
// Addition in Base 10, giving final year
2041 + 71 = 2112 AD
// 20X6 is equivilent to 2112 AD.
// 20X6 is 106 years in the future.

So, therefore, 20X6 is the year 2112. (And that's my six cents.)

I had always thought of X as a variable, but the 11th digit theory sounds plausible.

I listened to a very old filmstrip from the 1980s or 70s in science class a few years ago, and I kid you not, it said: "It is hoped that by the year 2000, nuclear fusion will be the source for the earth's power." (Nuclear fusion is the reaction happening in the core of the Sun. We so far can't build containment buildings that can host such a reaction.)

You're both wrong!!! It was promised in 2001, by a certain space odyssey which I could've put a wiki link for, but instead I will go wait for someone else to do it while I go eat some ice cream. :p
