So yesterday I was on the bus back from my synagauge's youth group trip to six flags. One of my friend was talking about her video iPod and said she only had podcasts and Strong Bad emails. I was pretty amazed by that, as I hadn't known she was a Homestar fan at all.

I started talking to her about it, and asked her if she had the Teen Girl Squad ones too, which she did. Then she said that "Oh yeah, one of my friends is so obsessed, she made her own Strong Bad email." Of course, I retorted with a "This one guy on the Homestarrunner Wiki forum posted a recipe for SBLOUNSKCHED." (no offense or anything xD) However, I don't think she was really paying attention to that....

Then this one kid asked what Strong Bad emails, and then she proceeded to describe it. Apparently, Strong Bad is an alien-like figure who checks random emails. I proceeded to give a proper description, talking about the rest of the site too. Then she also tried to describe the Ali and Ali's sister email.

Geez.

Something about Ali and Ali's sister sending Strong Bad an email, he accidently deletes it and goes on about how he should be having a threesome with Ali and Ali's sister. Then he gets an email from some 37-year-old guy named Chad.

>___> I asked her what the last email she watched was, and she said she didn't remember. I also asked her if she actually goes to the site, and no she does not.

Does anyone else know of someone that only watches Homestar stuff through the iTunes downloads? o_o I'm not really angry, persay, but just confused and surprised.

No one that I know of watches H*R stuff specifically through iTunes and podcasts and whatnot, but it IS cool to be walking around campus or anywhere public and just see someone--especially someone you know--sporting H*R apparel. I also get props almost every time from some random stranger whenever I wear my Homsar shirt out in public (my only piece of H*R apparel). It's definately a wide-reaching fanbase.

I don't have any H*R shirts (booo!) but I always get lots of comments whenever I wear one of my many many old-school Nintendo shirts in public. Then again, maybe people are just shocked that there's a girl out there who actually likes old video games. XD; I imagine I'd get a similar reaction if I were wearing an H*R shirt of some kind...

Lucky! I wear my Link shirt all the time and nobody says anything. I defiitely need some H*R apparel. If I had a kidlette, they'd so be wearing Baby Troggie everywhere.

See at the bottom of podstar.homestarrunner.com how it mentions pasting something into iTunes? You can get the podcasts through iTunes too, not just the site, and those people probably just found it on iTunes without having to go to the site.

To clarify: you do have to download them from podstar.homestarrunner.com, but you don't have to actually have to visit the site in a web browser to do it.

A podcast is just a repurposed RSS feed - a machine-readable file that basically just tells people when a site is updated. iTunes, and a bunch of other programs, can check this feed periodically, and automatically download anything new, without you having to go and visit the website itself.

Plus, Apple maintains a massive list of podcasts, including Podstar Runner, as part of iTunes, so you don't need to go to podstar.homestarrunner.com to get the URL of the feed either, just click the magic button and iTunes will do the rest.

But where's the fun in that? The obsessed ones are the best type. :p

I've never seen someone like you're describing Shoe, but then again, I haven't seen too many people with those new pods. I'm sure there are a lot more out there though.

Hehe, I mean the really obsessed ones. Like the ones who would probably shout "blasphemy!" if I said Homestar looked like a robot with long legs.

I would have said "This one guy on the Homestarrunner Wiki forum posted a thread detailing on all the physiological characteristics of each HSR character."

BTW, if anyone here can dig up that old topic, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know that one, but I remember the one detailing the psychological characteristics of the HSR characters... Faces of Alienation

Not so much spelling... "physiological" was spelled right... just the wrong word.
Physiology is how the body works, psychology is how the brain works.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if someone wrote an essay on the physiology of the HSR characters... I mean, there's some primo crazy stuff right there...

Yeah, I know that. I just got the two words confused when I was typing.
Wasn't really paying attention, I guess.

Toastpaint.

Whoa, that is an amazing article.

More on topic, that girl just sounds like a casual fan to me.

I received a compliment from an attractive HR fan standing behind me at the pharmacy. I was wearing my Trogdor shirt.

One time i was at the mall and i saw a guy wearing a strong bad shirt. I yelled really loud, "he's wearing a strong bad shirt!" and he turns around and gives me this weird look. Sorry that was off topic. on topic, no i haven't.

Old video games ftw... I have an Odyssey 300 and an Odyssey2 among my collection.

Anywayz, I walk around like a dork laughing at my ipod cuz I downloaded about 1/3 of the emails to it and watch them when I'm bored. I always watch 'em on the site new though. And uh... on DVD if I'm at home. I don't know anyone who watched SBEmails solely through iTunes- then again I don't know many people in real life who watch Homestar Runner toons. I guess it's not a western Minnesota thing.
