I had always think about products that failed like the betamax (not to beat the betamaxs jokes to death) and wondered if we didnt have things like dvd players, would we be using laser disks? Or would it soon be replaced by something else?

When seen the title, "Crystal Pepsi" suddenly came to mind.
I wonder what will replace the Internet.

O my gosh I totally forgot about crystal. I guess people wanted that muddy pepsi. And people also did not like their pepsi free. Except Marty from back to the future. Wat if the DeLoreans were still around?!?!

There's New Coke, but I don't think that really counts because it was never meant to do well.

I was just about to post that too. New Coke was either the worst marketing plan in the world, or the best one.

betamax
Betamax is a product that would not have failed if Sony did shoot itself in the foot. They overpriced it. Betamax was far superior to VHS. It's was more durable and had better video quality. I have used Betamax and I can tell you that if Sony had been smart, we would all be using Betamax.

Well, one could argue that not ALL products fail simply because they are stupid...like the electric car, for a debatable example.

Well, as far as the N-Gage goes, I think the newer version, the one that actually had a game slot, wasn't really that bad. Yes it was a crappy handheld, but really there's no other phone that can play games of that caliber. Of course, that obviously didn't keep it from being a huge failure, and I've only seen one person actually own one. If I could choose any phone, it might be the N-Gage. Actually I'd probably get that FFVII phone... since they spent the whole movie advertising it.

I think the worst failed product ever, from a gaming standpoint, at least, is the Virtual Boy. Unlike the Dreamcast, which failed but was really awesome, Virtual Boy was crap. It hurt to play it for too long, and I think it had like four games in all.

Jello put it correctly.

Please, everyone stop or I'll lock this thread and send it to the deepest, darkest reaches of Stu's Septic Tank.

I think this "Coke Blak" stuff will be a flop. It's a mix of Coke and Coffee... I havent been brave enought to try it yet, but I work at a grocery store and I havent seen anybody buy it yet. It sounds pretty gross.

Oh, I tried that...my roommate from this last semester of college bought some and made me try it. I sniffed it first--it smelled...unique...and it tasted horrible. It tasted like coke that had been sitting in the sun for far too long...or something...do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs.

I've heard it's nasty, but if I can ever find it at a store I'm going to try it. Because I'm a coffee addict.
