I love coffe and im 14, in fact i love strong black coffe.

I like a good cup of decent coffee, too. But what's up with these coffee specialty stores? You go in, AND They Want Freaking $12 for a freaking cup of Coffee! For that price, it better be able to raise kids!

As long as it has tea, my mom loves Starbucks.

I play it smart. I always go to coffee stores that offer refill mug specials. I used to love Caribou Coffee when they had that. But then they started charging full price for refills, and that was no fun.

There's a local coffee store right across from the street from the seminary, and they offer mug refills for 75c. That's not bad. I just don't like paying $2 for the same coffee at Starbucks.

And I probably wouldn't even pay the 75c at Kaldi's, except that there's usually plenty of cute girls hanging around.

But the food in just about any coffee shop is expensive. $1.50 for a bagel? Or $3.95 for a slice of pie? Or $1.95 for a biscotti? That's a bit much. More like, why don't you buy some at the grocery store and send the money you save to help pay off my student loans. Sheesh!

I don't know if they still do this--if they don't some of you might be too young to remember it--but when I was in grade school, they used to have this program called "Send A Rat To College". They would send home these envelopes with a picture of a cute rat wearing a frat sweater and stuff. Of course, the goal was so you could put money in it and send rats to college SO THEY COULD BE USED IN CANCER RESEARCH!

Poor rats. So just imagine that someone came up to you and offered to pay for your entire education just so you could die a horrible painful death. "So what classes are you taking next semester?" "I'm signed up for Professor Deathlung's Cigarette Smoking 213 class."

The up side is they got to smoke like 8 packs of Marlboro's a day. Oh, well. Better the rats than me, I guess.

So, product rants. I guess I might as well start up on some.

Mouse Trap: The best board game that almost never works. Does anybody actually play this game the legit way? The only way I've ever seen anyone play this is constructing the whole thing before you even start, and even then something usually goes wrong. A for effort, D for execution.

Battleship: Speaking of board games, I find it hilarious exactly how many iterations this game has gone through, considering you can just play it on graph paper with a pencil and not have to spend as much money. But then again, where would we be without our little plastic battleships, or our electronic talking plastic battleships, or our 3D-rendered plastic battleships? Probably playing this game on graph paper. Go figure.

Boo Berry: Notable as being the only so-called Monster Cereal that doesn't taste like total crap. Count Chocula might taste like mud in marshmallow form, and Frankenberry might taste like something you'd get from a particularly sadistic doctor, but Boo Berry is actually pretty sweet, or at least as sweet as a blueberry flavored cereal endorsed by a cartoon ghost can be. Which is still pretty freaking sweet if you ask me.

Mountain Dew: Pitch Black: When is Pepsi (makers of Mountain Dew) going to just give up on the new flavors already? I mean, sure, Code Red was really nice, but Livewire wasn't all that great, and this stuff's simply terrible. It's basically what you'd get if you crossed grape cough syrup with soda water. Meanwhile, Pepsi comes out with a great Mountain Dew flavor (Baja Blast), and makes it Taco Bell exclusive. Can you say "screwed up?"

Taco Bell: Speaking of Taco Bell, who actually eats at one? I mean, Taco Bell is basically approaching the bottom of the fast-food food chain. Why else do they sell their regular tacos for less than a buck? Cheap ground beef and limp lettuce that leaves you with stomach cramps! Mmm-mmm bleah.

The New Netscape (7.2) is based on Mozilla. Mainly the "Gecko" Engine. If you start up Netscape is will bring up a splash screen that says "Powered By Netscape Gecko".

And I agree about the new Mt. Dew: Almost Black But Actually Murky Purple. Personally I like Live Wire far more than Code Red (which has a funny aftertaste). It's like Fanta, but with caffiene! Not that I actually drink soft drinks much these days.

I might eat at Taco Bell if not for the fact that we have Panchero's. SOO GOOD! And sadly, as a result, I haven't gotten to try the Baja Whatever, but it sounds tasty.

Product rants, continued:

Little Debbie: The crack of the snack food aisle: cheap, sleazy, mostly nasty, yet strangely addictive. If not for their Apple Flips, German Chocolate Rings, and (to a much lesser extent) Nutty Bars, I'd chalk them up as horrible Hostess imitators and leave it at that. Some people also like to claim that Swiss Cake Rolls are better than Ho-Hos. These people are crazy.

Cracked: The only thing sadder than being latter-day Mad magazine (which has now slipped to "occasionally funny," though I still like to read it occasionally) is trying to be latter-day Mad magazine and failing miserably. While Mad still scores points for having such talents available as Sergio Aragones and John Caldwell, Cracked has absolutely nothing. What's worse, Cracked is completely bereft of some of the satire that makes Mad somewhat amusing, leaving it completely awash with what amounts to bathroom humor. Eegh.

Nacho Cheese: Am I the only person on the planet that finds nacho cheese to be absolutely dreadful? It's less cheese and more some yellow, vaguely spicy material that probably moonlights as drywall putty.

Final Fantasy VII: Considered either the greatest videogame of all time, or the point at which the series decided to suck, depending on your age and tolerance of angst. Personally, I think my opinion falls somewhere along the lines of this being the most overrated game in existence. Here's a hint: spend less time translating curse words into the dialogue and more time actually giving the characters a personality. Just a thought!

Oh man, nacho cheese is awesome. It's possibly carcinogenic and definitely not an actual part of the cheese family, but is possibly the world's most perfect synthetic food product, perhaps second only to Twizzlers.

Twizzler Straws: Looks like some bigshot finally figured out what myself and tons of little kids found out ages ago: twizzlers are hollow, and can be quite easily be turned into straws if you bite the ends off. As a result, in some convenience stores you can now buy a couple Twizzler straws when you purchase your 800 oz. Gigantahuge Cup. Paying more money for something I can easily do myself with a whole bag of Twizzlers? But of course!

Microsoft Outlook-It was great for awhile, but then it stopped working suddenly. I suspect Microsoft has something against me.

And what the crap is up with Microsoft Works? Isn't that like "Military Intelligence" or "Civil War"? Microsoft Works. More like, Microsoft Blue Screen of Death. It's like, "We're too cheap to put a real business application in your computer, so take this junky downscaled version of Office instead."

Netscape made all their source code open in 1998. This donated source code goes by Mozilla 5.0. So Mozilla tweaked it and released and released, and by the time Netscape moved to the Netscape 7.x branch, they based it off of the work done by mozilla.

So Netscape is older, and started the project, but then they later reaped the fruits of the donation. Now they just take the latest stable mozilla release, make some UI tweaks to make it supposedly more user friendly and to brand it, and integrate some 3rd party stuff for AOL, like their messenger.

Been a while since I've come up with products to rant about.

Air Dusters: These things are honestly way more fun than they should be. Yeah yeah yeah, I'm only supposed to use it to dust off my keyboard, but come on! Can of compressed air! Long nozzle! The possibilities here are endless! (Though I personally use them to irritate my cats when I'm home. And no, I'm not some sort of sadistic animal torturer.)

Blizzard (No, not the Dairy Queen kind): There's a central paradox to Blizzard games that I've yet to unravel. When you buy a game from them, you play it almost obsessively for about a week. You must do everything! You must level up or crush Zergs or Orcs or whatever it is you're doing! If you don't, you'll die, man! Die! Then about a week later, you put it away and completely forget about it for about 2 or 3 months, at which point you start playing obsessively again. To wit: what the crap? At least Blizzard were able to finally drill it into my head that I completely suck at real-time strategy games.

Mary Jane (no, not the narcotic): Is it just me, or is this perhaps the most disgusting variety of Halloween candy next to Necco wafers? I mean, they don't taste good. At all. Even those orange and black wrapped peanut butter things are better than Mary Jane.

Necco Wafers: Just like Strong Sad said. Colored chalk. Even the CHOCOLATE Necco Wafers taste like chalk (making Chocolate Necco Wafers the worst form of false advertising since Pepsi Blue tried to claim it was pop instead of antifreeze).
