You know I just realized that I have a very legitimate chance at winning. I am the only one with both of my finals picks still alive. Ed just has Kansas, and StrongRad just has North Carolina. I've UNC and UCLA alive. I'm in very good shape.

If I was in the group, I would own all of you. Three of my Final Four, including my national champ UCLA are still in it.

Just a question, Raddy, who did you have coming out of the region UCLA was in?

UCLA.
I had them losing in the national semifinal round to Texas.

Also, the Courier-Journal is reporting that Darrin Horn is going to South Carolina.

I hate the fact that Western Kentucky is a mid-major. It means they'll never have a "legacy". As soon as they have a good year, their coach gets swooped up by a bigger school. My only hope is that WKU gets a commitment from him that Western gets to play South Carolina every year for some period of time (it's what they got from Felton when he went to Georgia).

I hate the fact that "mid-major" now applies to NCAA basketball, when it originated as a way to classify schools that aren't in BCS conferences.

THE BCS DOESN'T EXIST IN BASKETBALL, SPORTS ANNOUNCERS!

Thank heavens it doesn't. But I fear we're moving that way if we keep using this terminology.

No, I don't think you have to ever worry about the NCAA Tourney Committee using the BCS.

There would be mass suicide in March if that ever happened.

Bill Keightly, known around the nation I suppose as "Mr. Wildcat", passed away today at the age of 81. Keightly was the basketball manager with the University of Kentucky for 48 years and saw a lot of history alongside all of the coached since Rupp. Please keep him and the University in your thoughts and prayers.

Yeah. I saw that announced on WAVE-3 out of Louisville.
I had to explain who he was to my wife.

They said he fell at a Reds game or something like that, then had internal bleeding from a tumor or something like that.

Why oh why did I let BTG shame me into moving away from my previously-successful chalk-picking bracket-winning ways this year?

It could be worse. You could be Lahi and have a bracket that has been dead since the Sweet Sixteen.

The Speaker of the Kentucky House (Jody Richards) is pwning everyone in my office. He picked a chalk bracket (more or less, he did get the WKU wins, but he's from Bowling Green, so I think he picked with his heart on that one) and is running away with it.

The Speaker of the House is in your office? What office is that?

Anyways, I'm still in 2nd place here, but looking at the brackets, I think I will have secured a victory if Kansas can keep this lead.

My bracket is officially dead. I had UCLA and UNC in the title game...they both lost.

So glad to see Kevin Love and Hans go down tonight. The media's obsession with two very good college players who will be 8th men in the NBA was getting annoying.

Speaker of the State House, not the one in DC...
He's not in my office, but he's friends with one of the people that does the brackets, so somehow, they let him into the tourney.

He won last year. If he wins this year, I say we limit our pool to DAQ staff only.

suns beat spurs yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

That makes me happy, because whenever we play the Spurs I feel we will get beat legit. Oddly, enough, we've lost more times to Minnesota this season than the Spurs.

haha same here. I think Love might be OK, but Hansbrough...not so much.
I think they are both going to shine on the next level. Love would fit in nicely in San Antonio or Detroit. He is player who would be fine on a defensive minded team.

Hansbrough would be great in Phoenix, Golden State, Denver or Boston, a place where they play a high tempo, open offense.

The only problem is none of those teams that you mentioned are lottery teams, and that's where Hansbrough and Love would be drafted.

Hansbourgh is staying for another year and I think Love will as well and even though those teams aren't Lottery teams, that doesn't mean that they can't trade up for them.

Skip Bayless was VERY ADAMANT the other day (as he usually is) that Love will be a starter in the NBA for several years.

If that happens, I will eat my hat.

Hansbrough has some nice range that I was previously unaware of, and I now edit my prediction of him to reflect the possibility that he could be a starter on a bad team, and a bench guy on a good team.

I'm watching the first of four consecutive playoff games.

If anyone needs me, I'll be on my couch.

Jazz won Game 1 in Houston. Their series won't go more than five games.

Phoenix choked big time in San Antonio. Amare Stoudamire with two boneheaded plays that allowed the Spurs back in. That said, the Spurs made the plays they needed to make.

LeBron is too much for Washington. Too bad his supporting cast outside of Ilgauskas is horrible.

Chris Paul is somewhat skilled. He single-handedly beat Dallas in Game 1.

So far these playoffs rock.
