NP: Alice Cooper, "I Am The Future"

Despite having put out a couple dozen studio albums now, I think Alice Cooper is more known for the idea of him than the actual music, which for most people comes to, I dunno, half a dozen songs? Anyway, this isn't one of those songs. This is early 80s Alice, from Zipper Catches Skin, trying to play up more to the new wave trend and not really succeeding. Keyboard-driven riff, fat and very dated synth washes and squeals to bulk out the sound, and reverb-laden drums underpinning it all. Most of the lyrics on the album are parodies of the kind of shock-horror aesthetics he was putting out back in the day, but this is... very different. The verses seem to be a call to the lister to stand up and take charge of their destiny whilst the chorus is Alice apparently positing himself as some kind of dystopian vision of what could come to be. It's all very vague

Despite all this though I quite like this song, or I wouldn't be bothering to listen to it now. Kind of a nice riff to it, y'know?

Haven't stopped listening since it's release. What they're doing, with the "choose your price" and all, is just flat-out epic.

That's my second favorite off the new album lol. It really grew on me after the 9th or 10th listen. Right now I'm listening to 15 Step by them. I love the weird 5/4 handclap beat throughout the song. By the way, how much did you pay?

I payed zip. I'm actually not a big Radiohead fan, a friend of mine told me about what they were doing and I downloaded it. I really like the album and I'll definitely look into more of their catalog.

I didn't pay anything either. I'm surprised that some people actually did when they coulda got it for free. Btw, I suggest you start with The Bends or OK Computer for your next Radiohead album.

Possible Reasons:

A. Supporting the band (I would too if I knew more about them.)
B. Trying to be "fair"
C. Crazy

As for my listening, Girls & Boys by Blur. Damon Albarn is definitely one of my favorite artists; he has such a unique style amongst his three* bands.
