I love watching the Humanitarian Bowl for two reasons:

1. Blue Turf
2. It's the only Bowl Game North of the Mason-Dixon Line. Which means COLD WEATHER!!!

Whoa... I'd never thought about the Mason-Dixon thing..

You're right about cold weather, though. Football exists to be played in cold weather and snow.. The Super Bowl should rotate between Denver, Kansas City, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Cincinnati.

You're right man. Football is a game played in harsh conditions... That's just how it rolls...

As for me, I suppose I'm ready for some football. My dad is the one who's really ready for some football. He's all about Monday Night Football, football parties, football betting pools, the works! Once he sits down to watch the game, you'd better not disturb him, or there will be hell to pay. He just recently went to the local bar where he signed up for his football pool. Man, did he come back excited from that. Whoa boy... don't even get me started!

I myself am not a HUGE fan of football, though I do like to watch the occasional game on TV. Nothing beats watching college football on a lazy weekend day, or throwing a massive Superbowl party. I swear there was a whole layer of crumbs on the floor after the last Superbowl party we hosted.

FOOTBALL!!!

AFC East: Miami Dolphins. Let's face it, the New England Patriots' dynasty is over. They're still a good team, but they can't stay on top of the division forever. And if you'll remember, the Dolphins were only one game behind the Patriots at the end of the year, and they closed out the season by winning 6 straight games, so I expect the Dolphins to clinch the AFC East this year.

Not a chance. The Pats preseason was very impressive, even though they went 2-2. Demolishing Arizona 30-3 and Washington 41-0 is proof enough for me. Cassel looked great, as did the others. I'm really excited about the new running back- Maroney. He looked awesome.

Eh, I guess you have a point. Two blowouts against two potentially good teams is pretty good. But I still stand firm in my prediction of the Dolphins. Oh, well. We shall see.

And the Giants went 4-0, the last time they did that, they won the Super Bowl.

One thing about the Dolphins I don't understand is how Daunte Culpepper is viewed as sort of a light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel. I really don't think he's worth all this hype; he was a par, if not sub-par quarterback in his tenure in Minnesota (even with Randy Moss as a target), and I don't see what makes things so different in Miami; even with Chambers.

Culpepper floats the ball way too much, as he did tonight against Pittsburgh. That's always been a problem area with him.

Big college football matchup this week: #1 Ohio State vs. #2 Texas.

I can tell you one team that is watching this with great interest, that's #3 Notre Dame. This is the closest they have been to the #1 ranking since 1993. All they have to do is beat Penn State in South Bend and they are guaranteed to move up one.

I'll pick Ohio State and Notre Dame to win those games, since I think the Irish have a legitimate shot at the championship.

It IS technically possible for Ohio State to beat Texas and have Texas stay #2, but it'd have to be a close game.. It ain't gonna happen, though. The Longhorns are gonna whip up on the Buckeyes (it's gonna be a preview of the Bears/Packers game on sunday).

Crap...
Western Kentucky just lost to Eastern Kentucky. That sucks BAD..
It's their first win over the Hilltoppers since 1999. Oh well, might as well let them win a game. They're not going to win another game all season.

Now, to cheer me up, I'm-a look at a hillarious page my friend Will made about Odell Thurman.
The "Odell's College Website" link takes you to will's archive of the page Odell actually made when he was in college.
:-)

WOOT! Notre Dame won, Texas got destroyed and USC was idle. That means we are going to jump up to #2 in the rankings.

Yeah, shut up, kid..

Oh well.. My fandom diminishes by 0. Yeah, I'm not a Patriots or Yankees fan. If you're insulted by that, then you're not a real Patriots or Yankees fan..

Hey, I haven't been able to watch any football at all this season [:(], so... have the Panthers* won a game yet?

*Note: I nearly made the best typo ever. "Have the Panters won a game yet?"

Yeah, but Eli has figured out the Colts defense.

Raddy, Favre is D-O-N-E!

And Ninti, the Panthers lost.

Regardless, he's still the second best QB to EVER step on a field (Unitas is #1)..
...and I don't think he's done. He's still got some of that Favre magic in the tank. He's just making sure the defenses don't expect it anymore.
Given equal O-Lines and recievers, I'd take Favre over ANY QB in the NFL. Unfortunately, all O-Lines aren't equal. That's why my fantasy teams have Payton Manning and Matt Hasselbeck (Favre, part 2) as starting QBs.

Mr. Elway, Mr. Montana and Mr. Marino would like to have a word with you on that.

I do. I think he has gone one year too long.

I don't know BTG, Farve right up there on that list. Don't count him short of his prestige.

I'm not, I am just saying that there are those who have done better than he is.

No, neither of us talked about this Farve guy...
We're talking about Brett Favre (Fah-v-ruh) :-)

Good showing by ND, BTG, though it did take a while for the offense to show up. But show up it did. Impressive win over Penn St.

BYU routed Tulsa (last year's Conference USA champs) 49-24. Makes up for a horrible performance last week against Arizona. I still feel confident about a MWC Conference championship for the Cougars.

All New Mexico fans may want to take a new look at the team after their Lobos lost to Div-II Portland St. last week.

I'm looking at you, Homeschool Winner. :)

*plugs ears*
I can't hear you! LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!

As for my Hilltoppers, I think EKU fans can/should be as mad as WKU fans for the way the Battle of the Bluegrass went. Western screwed up a lot more than the "last drive to try to tie the game" by WKU would suggest.

Either way, I still keep my WKU stuff and my Packers stuff on my "Sports Shelf".

The Packers will turn this thing around yet. You can't write them out.. Well, you can, but I won't listen. Brett Favre is the Jack Bauer of the NFL. Just when you think it's over for him, he rips the [s]terrorist's[/s] defensive end's windpipe out and strangles [s]another terrorist[/s] a linebacker with it.

It's not related to this season, but check this out.
He's probably my second favorite running back to watch (second to Barry Sanders). My favorite Earl Campbell play is about 42 seconds in. Watch him level Isaih Robertson (I think that's him, Rams DB, NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, 1971). He hits Robertson like Robertson is the one with the ball.

Imagine having a team with Earl Campbell and Barry Sanders in your backfield. You'd be able to put the ball around your opponent with Sanders (and make them look foolish while doing it) or you could just drop a train on 'em with Campbell and power it through them.

Speaking of Barry Sanders...
I'm suprised they could get this footage, as nobody could keep up with him, including cameramen.
