Actually, it's not. Opera and IE have exactly zero code in common.

No. It doesn't. Opera has its own proprietary rendering engine built from scratch by Opera Software. Opera has never relied on the IE's Trident rendering engine or any other IE component. Like I said: Opera and IE have exactly zero code in common--not on the inside, not on the outside, not anywhere.

I use Opera for testing website development, and have tried a few times to give it a real go. But I always end browsing sessions in Opera mildly annoyed, though I can't put my finger on exactly what I don't like.

i stick with safari because now it has tabbed browsing and a sweet rss setup and all. but its really not any different than my firefox which i also like a bunch. so they're tied for me and i just happen to use safari more. i used to use the ie for mac on my old g3 but when i tried out firefox i liked it a bit more. now ie doesnt come with macs anymore.

I haven't used Safari enough to develop much of an opinion about it--except that it's obviously better than IE--but you might want to try out Camino. It's a browser based on Firefox but meant to integrate better with OS X.

I tried out Camino, and I havn't really noticed that much of an increase in speed from Firefox on Mac. The problem is what it uses in speed, it lacks in features. So now I have IE (pretty much for the collecter's value), Safari, Firefox, and Camino on the same Dock. I pretty much just click on a random one now.

Sure, IE7 has tabs, but it probably still has Swiss cheese for security. So I have Firefox, & it works great. My only beefs with it are how it handles PDF files, but other than that, I won't get IE7 unless it works as good as, or better than, Firefox.

PDF Download extension. Be sure to play with the options to fine tune its behavior.

I'm not going to bother with Intarweb Exploder, but I'm currently migrating my media library to the new version of WMP to see what it's like... not that WMP10's bad or anything. It'd just be interesting to see what they've improved.

Oh my god! You freakin' IE flamers. Shut up. Just ST*U. You stick with your Firefox no matter what. And when something else comes along, you think its sucks right away.

Retard. You're saying that the new IE is almost an exact copy of Firefox, and you're saying it sucks. Therefore, you are contradicting yourself in saying that firefox sucks. If they are both the same, and one sucks, then the other one has to suck. Idiot.

I just downloaded the new IE, and I personally love it. It's very organized.

Now I tried Firefox a few weeks ago, and I didn't like it one bit. But I'm not gonna say it was terrible, horrrible, and sucked, I just personally didn't like it. Just cause you think it sucks, it doesn't actually suck. It just means you don't like it, and it doesn't match your prefferences.

Oh, and

Woah, woah, woah, cinderella. I may agree with some of your terms (IE being a copy of Foxilla, but people saying it sucks, etc) but, please, don't just call someone a retard strait out of no where. Plus, please, don't post STFU. It's... It qualifies as a swear. Although you make a good point.

Ok, I wouldn't recommend doing anything like that again. If you have a problem with a specific user, take it up with them personally or with a moderator, not the entire forum. I don't care if you like IE over firefox, or if you like chocolate covered twinkies better than chocodiles, get over yourself.

ROFFLE!

I am going to stick with Mozilla. I used IE for 7 years and hated it. I am not going back to IE.

Um...thanks for making an opinion of me, just because of my taste in browser and how I express what I feel about it.

Notice that I said almost an exact copy of Firefox....not exact. While, yes, IE is almost exactly the same as Firefox, it still lacks in safety features, customability, and a bunch of other features. But putting those aside, it is, very very similar to Firefox. I said IE sucks because I'm not exactly happy with Microsoft for making somthing so incredibly similar to Firefox, and not being able to come up with somthing creative on their own, and I pretty sure that Microsoft has the ability to do somthing like that, they just took the easy way out.

Yeah, I don't like your taste in browser, but I'm not gonna call you names for it.

I'm not calling you names for what browser you use. I'm calling you names for how much you flame IE over and over again. It's just so repetitive and annoying.

And sorry for the harsh words. It was late, and I was annoyed.

Can't we all just get along? :p

But anyway, I'm gonna say 1 thing:

When I had Firefox, guess how many tracking cookies were found on my machine from a Spybot S&D search? 11.

IE7: only 10.

Not, really, a difference... much... And I had Firefox longer... So... yeah I agree with the person who described IE7's security as Swiss cheese. But I'm still gonna stick to it because... yeah... I'm switching to Firefox.

And I hate Swiss cheese.

I'll give you a big hint from one web developer to another: always develop for the standards-compliant browsers (Firefox, Safari, and Opera) first, then go back and fix it so it looks okay in IE too. I've tried it every which way and it's always easier to do it this way than the other way around. If you developer for IE first, you end up with swiss cheese code built to work around IE's *cough* unique rendering issues, and getting it to work in everything else is three times harder. I'm not saying this as a standards snob, it's just the way things are (and no matter what, you should always make sure your sites work in IE--it still has 85%+ market share and there's no getting around that).

Edit: TOTPD! Image

I don't care what all you IE guys say; I LOVE FIREFOX. Thanks to IE, I hadn't been able to log on. So today, I thought, that maybe, just maybe, if I downloaded Firefox it would be possible. And guess what? I'm back! With no thanks to IE! Yay Firefox!!!!

ok, i've given IE all fairness. I've been trying it out.

I've concluded that it really isn't all that bad. I still like Firefox more, but I think that this IE is a great improvement from the last IE. The only negatives are that there isnt a shortcut to get a new tab up(or maybe i just dont know it), all the improvements were copied from firefox, no file, edit, view bar(i forget what that's called), you still need to click ok for ActiveX, you still need to click into flash files to use them(scuh as homestarrunner.com), and the favorites don't stay on the left like i want them to. they just come down when you press the button and then go back up.

So, I'm sticking with firefox and I'd advise others to do the same. I do need to use IE for some things though, so I'm glad they've improved.
