Mozilla Firefox 1.0 Preview release... I can't really tell a difference. (I liked .9 better, then I fixed what I didn't like... Amazing what you can do when you read help, isn't it?)

Where are you finding Firefox RC1? Are you downloading a nightly? As much as I force a refresh, I'm only seeing info and downloads for Firefox PR.

Apparently, somrthing known as the Nintendo DS has been released. Who's Excited?

Though it looks really cool, I never got into the GameBoy schteff, so I'd need to buy a whole new load of games, and since my wallet is a bit thin, it doesn't look too good.

Nice. The DS itself looks really cool--especially the touchpad thing--but, like I said earlier, I just don't feel like buying a whole new set of games. Same deal with the new PlayStation thing, but those are the same games--you just have to buy the new format disk to play it on the mini thing.

Macintosh:
Found a great deal online for an old iMac. Now I have my very own "Tangerine Dream" sitting on my desk. I have no idea on the specs, the computer itself is probably 9-10 years old. However, it does run OSX. That alone is pretty cool.

Music server (my new baby):
This is a new project. I had an old box that I wanted to do something with. So I am in the process of copying all my mp3's to it, and now it streams them to me on my other puters The only thing worth bragging about on this system is the OS (Redhat 9.0 - possibly changing to GenToo, if I can ever get it to compile) and the Hard Disks. OfficeMax had a deal after Thanksgiving for 200Gb Western Digital HDs for 50 bucks. I picked one up, and then my sister did as well (at an employee discount). She then sold me the discounted one. Now, for $80 I have 400 GB for my "little" mp3 server. Lots and lots of fun.

Other puters:
I have 5 computer shells in my car right now. I also have a box of old components (motherboards, video cards... most of it is really old, and possibly not in working order). They are going to the dump, given that the salvation army doesn't like partially built computers.

If anyone is intereste, and can provide a method to get them, I will give them to you. You need to pay to get them to you, but other then that I don't care for anything (Maybe a case of Mountain Dew or something)

I was at the AutoExpo in Cincy today and Ford had a little kiosk, and when I touched it, it brought up the XP "Encountered and error and needs to close" dialog. I thought it was funny.

I need a new hard drive, and some more RAM. And a new video card. And a new monitor.

Also, connected (through MIDI, USB, and analog audio line-ins) to my computer is my totally wicked Korg Triton Extreme (88-key), which does practically everything except massage your feet.

EDIT: And my monitor needs updating next...it's the same monitor I had with my last computer--a completely POS Compaq Presario (or should that be spelled Pre-Sorry-O?). CRT, 15 inch, analog input only. Looking to get either a Sony or ViewSonic flat-panel LCD screen eventually. Oh, and to upgrade my RAM to 2GB.

Processor: Pentium M 2.00ghz
Memory: 1gb
Network: Wireless G with Bluetooth
Monitor: 17 inch (1440 x 900)
Coffee Cup Holder: Combo Cid Raw and Divid.
Batteries: one 80 whr and one 53 whr (one gives me about 3hrs of power and the other about 2).

I've benchmarked this with my Desktop, and despite my Desktop's better specs on paper, both machines run neck-and-neck speedwise.

My dad took me to get some new toys today for my birthday (which was Wednesday) that I'm really excited about. Got the ViewSonic monitor I wanted--it's SO much better than the CRT display I had before. Bigger resolution, crisper images, more vibrant colors...and it's widescreen.

I also doubled my RAM, adding another 1GB to it, so now there are 4 512MB modules, DDR2 DIMM at 533MHz.

And what's more, my dad also got me a webcam which seems to be working pretty well.

I'm still using my crappy old computer from 2003, except I've made it less crappy. I upgraded the RAM recently and that helped.

But frankly, it still stinks.

What I don't understand is how a computer made in December 2003 lacks SATA and AGP support. Those both were design before or during 2003.

I also have to say, look at my posts from 2004, they seem suprisingly immature and newbish.

There are still a lot of motherboards and chipsets that support PCI-Express x16 in favor of AGP for their video cards, and plenty of video cards that makers like ATI still produce today for both types of slots. Yeah, there's still a bit of a trend towards AGP, I think, but my PCIx16 video card (see above specs) works just fine for me.

Yes, but my 2003 computer's 2003 motherboard doesn't have AGP. Just PCI. Not even PCIe.
