Still reading Snakehead.

Just got past the part where the villain monologues. Basically, what I got out of it was that he finds British people to be superior to anybody else, despite being a half-Chinese immigrant.

I'm about halfway through The Fall by Albert Camus.

It's an interesting look in to the psyche of the most subtle type of egomaniac, the average man. Everyone should totally read it.

Lately I've been enamored with the school library. Recently I've read the following books (in order of the longest time ago to most recently):

I Sing the Body Electric! by Ray Bradbury (book of short stories)

At the beginning of the school year, I had read Fahrenheit 451 for school and found it awesome. This collection only affirmed Ray Bradbury's status in my mind as a great writer. So many great stories in there, but if one of you manage to pick it up, I'd suggest "The Lost City of Mars", "The Terrible Conflagration Up At the Place", "Tomorrow's Child", or "The Inspired Chicken Motel". But you should probably read them all.

Rumo and His Miraculous Adventures by Walter Moers

Good book. Had heard of his other work, The Thirteen and a Half Lives of Captain Bluebear, and thought I'd give this a shot. It wasn't 100% what I had expected, but a good book nonetheless.

Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

Click here for a little more context to go with what I'll say next.

This book, which was released in 1986, is, in my opinion, better than the movie (which gets progressively less and less like the book as it goes on). I think the movie is still good (well duh, it's Studio Ghibli – how could they screw up?), but frankly, it's a little all over the place at times and generally makes less sense than the book. The book's ending is also much more satisfying. In the movie, they built up all this tension and then they resolved the whole thing in what seemed like the space of 30 seconds, which always irritated me.

Yeah, Rumo was a good book, but I thought it dragged on a bit. Seriously, you can only have the main character get dragged into random sidequests and wackiness so many times before it gets annoying.

Still, I liked it. The illustration wasn't bad either.

I'm reading one of the weirdest books of all time.

The Martian Chronicles

I suggest not reading this one unless you just really like sci-fi or you have to read it. I have to read it because of my Literature class, but at least it isn't crap, just really really weird.

I finished J-Pod by Douglas Couplan last week, which was some excellent fluff. Now I'm reading Snow by some Turkish guy, which is almost more stupid than J-Pod because the main character ends up dropping whatever he's doing and running home to write poems, despite being in the middle of conversations or massacres.

I took out Dubliners, Ulysses, and Finnegan's Wake (all by James Joyce) from the library, and I realize now that I'll probably never finish any of them. :(

An extremely boring book for history called Life in Elizabethan Days. Some parts are funny, like when a guy pulls out a fork to eat his food and everybody's shocked.

B-B-B-BUMP!

Now that I'm done reading Of Mice and Men for English, I'm reading Fight Club. It's way different than the movie but still just as awesome.

Currently, for my Freshman Writing Seminar, Ursula K. Le Guin's The Dispossessed.

Not too bad. Before that was White Noise by Don DeLillo.

Maus, by Art Spiegelman
It's very good.
It's my second Holocaust book, the first one was Daniel's Story, which was also good.

Ewww...steamy romance, who does that? At least it's not VC Andrews...

Before the other two books, I read Swan Song by Robert McCammon, which I recommend to anyone who likes nuclear war, and before that was a book called Cusp, by I forget who it's by.

Hehehe. I just pick up whatever's cheap at the used bookstore. The more ripped bodices and rippling muscles, the happier I am. I love the steamy trash.

At least you're honest about it.

Please don't tell me you've ever voluntarily read any of those romance/vampire goth we-dwell-in-darkness-eternal-and-we-are-so-alone type books, though.

Nah nah, I'm not into that crap. I like lots of steam, lots of raunch, lots of fun, and happy endings everytime. No vampires, no furries, no muss no fuss. I like the women wild, the men brazen, and the sex unhinged. :-D

Well, thank Jimbus for that, anyway. Especially the "no furries" part. That was like an added bonus of you not sucking!

EDIT:I read Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I thought it would be boring, but it's an okay book. I have to read it for school.
I also just finished Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. It was basically the funniest book I've ever read.

All right, but you're gonna have to learn how to do the eyebrow thing first.

Has anyone actually read White Noise by Don DeLillo, like in the last two months? And would you mind reviewing my essay before I turn it in tomorrow, if you have?

Long shot, I know, but I figure I'll throw the line out there, see if I get any bites.

A Prayer for Owen Meany, for school. It's an okay book, but wow is that a pretentious narration.

In another thread, I commented that I'd given up on Atlas Shrugged. Well, I'm giving it another shot now. (This is probably the last time, though.)

I never did finish That Hideous Strength, the book I mentioned in this thread nearly two years ago. (In fact, I went ahead and gave it back to the guy who loaned it to me.)
