Is anyone here a fan of the show Home Movies? It's so funny, and um... I guess natural seeming. (The way the characters talk, it's like real life conversations.) |

Aw, come on out of there. I'm the biggest "Home Movies" fan you'll find in this place. I've seen (and loved) every episode at least once. I have the first three seasons on DVD, but I really want the fourth one because of the audio CD I've heard it comes with (and the ep with TMBG!). My favorite season is probably the third, though Season Two had "History," an utter classic. My favorite episode is "Renaissance." It had everything: great music, great dialogue. And Melissa got to strut her stuff, which is always great. I'm sad that Brendon never got a chance with Cynthia. I'm sad that we never learned the name of Andrew's and Linda's baby. I'm sad that Brendon Small's new show suuuucks. edit: yeah, the reason the dialogue seems so natural is because it's really not scripted. They had a special way of doing things--retroscripting, it's called--where they know what the scene's supposed to be about and where it's supposed to go, and they just improvised the rest. |

My favorite episode: the one where Scäb does the rock opera of Kafka's Metamorphosis. "I bet you fifty dollars I'm a man and I'm a scholar and I'm turning to a bug!" That's a great show. |
