Post subject:  Homestar Runner Forum RPG

I don't know exactly where to post this topic. The General Discussion is for wiki-related stuff and the Forum Games section seem to be for games running on those subforums, so I posted it here.

Anyways, I was curious if there are any good Homestar Runner Forum RPGs on the net? I've done numerous Google searches, and nothing really came up. I've checked the forums here (with some of biggest HR junkies I've seen to date :)), yet no continuous HR-themed RPGs.

If not, I would like to pass on the idea of what I think Homestar Runner deserves: A Forum site devoted to roleplaying in all that is H*R themed, and a proffessional one at that. When I mean proffessional, I mean the kind where if you wanna roleplay someone big like Strong Bad, you need to require members to sign up, writing a very detailed character bio and be ready to devote yourself to such a major character.

To give an example, there was this one forum RPG site I was at that was devoted to this one anime (I would show you all the link, but that would seem like unneccessary advertising). Anyways, every single major, minor, and even most singley one-lined characters were being RPed. Every different location in the world were given their own appropriate subforum, every different universe and major continent was given its own seperate category in the forum ... I could go on, but I'd like to say that it was the most organized forum RPG I have ever seen. Also, you could ONLY take characters from the show, and only once you were active enough would you be allowed to make a max of one made-up character. If such a forum RPG for H*R would exist, I would stress the fact that a number of forum RPGs have way too many made-up characters running around, and will usually destroy the atmosphere in which the original subject was (not saying all, just a lot). In a universe such as that of H*R, which is heavily character driven, this would be a definite must.

How much of a range of characters are there really for such a major RPG Forum to be able to distribute to members? A lot more than one would probably think. You have to consider more than just Free Country, USA. Here are some that come directly to mind:

- Free Country, USA
- Old Timey 1936
- Peasantry
- Stinkoman K 20X6
- Sweet Cupin' Cakes
- Teen Girl Squad
- The Cheat Commandos

Of course, if such an ambitious Forum RPG site were to start, it'd need to limit itself to only Free Country, USA most likely to start and build itself up as more members joined.

Sorry for the complete rambling. A simple question turned into a complete suggestion topic I guess. If I had the time, I would love to start a great project like what I mentioned, I just doubt I could without much manpower :(

As interesting as that sounds, I think it would end up with the rules being broken a lot. Maybe a more relaxed roleplay would be better?

I do miss roleplaying, and I'd love to roleplay Homestar Runner...

Ready for Prime Time: Who says its not possible? I believe that if enough members came together that such a RPing site would be very possible. Its all about man power and how devoted you'd be to such a site.

With a number of proffessional moderators, keeping the rules in check wouldn't be quite as hard as one might suspect.

Sorry about making those rules sound so intense, I just wanted to stress the importance of an orderly RPing forum. Its something like this that no good RPing forum wants: One where some new member will come, pick up their favorite character Strong Bad, RP him lousily, and leave after a single day.

Believe me when I say this, but I've seen this all too often in forum RPing, and the forum will end up dieing a slow death. Now I'm not saying someone has to devote their entire life to RPing one of the major characters, but I am saying they should at least be sticking with the site for more than a month at least, if you catch my drift ;)

Of course, after that month, if someone else wants that character, then they are free to try and grab that character now.

I'm not worried that the rules wouldn't be enforable, I'm worried that the most people won't want to stick to the rules.

But that's just from something that happened on another forum where a structured roleplay was tried. I'm not a very experienced roleplayer.
