What if the floor were, instead of just lava, lava that had poisonous snakes in it?

We'd have barbecued snakes.
Unless they were made of asbestos, then they wouldn't burn up and we'd have a lava floor that would burn us covered by snakes that will both poison us and give us lung cancer.

I played the first ten minutes of EarthBound and compared it to the first ten minutes of Mother 3. Here are the major things I noticed.

EB Early Plot: Cool I can get dressed and go outside twice, not a waste of time at all. Also the first battle dragged on forever
Mother 3 Early Plot: Let's run into some dinosaurs and learn how to battle in an entertaining way

EB Parents: Cool they don't do anything
Mother 3 Parents: FLINT IS A GOD

EB Bash Attack: boring and does not do any worthwhile damage
Mother 3 Bash Attack: sound combos hell yes i feel involved with this battle

EB "scrolling declining health": Wow that went insanely fast what's the point
Mother 3 "scrolling health": oh man oh man if i hurry i can still save him come on come on lets go...!

EB Other Party Members: oh boy I can see "Pokey cowers in fear" 20 times while this stupid battle drags on
Mother 3 Other Party Members: oh god Yokuba just raped that guy

EB Map Exploration: wtf I can't run I can't avoid that guy I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT WTF. Also no run function means you are slow as heck
Mother 3 Map Exploration: lol dashin



Don't bother telling me the rest of the game is awesome and how I am stupid (I know you want to). I'll eventually play the rest and probably think EB is a good game when I do. Just saying, the early gameplay does not compare at all.

I checked a few weeks ago and they were far off.

I checked again two nights ago because I heard it was updated and it seems like they made a ton of progress.

I knew Pokey wasn't going to help but I didn't need updates on that every single turn.

Also I am confused as to why Nintendo of America changed his name from Porky to Pokey. "Porky" makes a heckuva lot more sense considering the events of Mother 3 (or even SSBB).

What I do is use this and this. They work well. This one helps for the early part of the game, but I mostly use it for the enemies list.

That's probably true. Last thing you want to do is fight with someone that can pull an anvil out of thin air and smash you upside the head with it, especially if they follow up by painting a big tunnel on the wall and running through it (but when you try to run through it, you just smash into the wall).
