I havent been keeping up with CAD for a while. Today, I went in just to check on things, and what I saw seriously got me bawwwwing. Just seeing a young man's face, even in the crap copy-paste of CAD, go into a state of utter dismay due to the loss of a potential child and knowing that he must share the pain with his fiancé and equally accept and comfort the pain his fiancé is feeling, for some reason...Made me tear up. I've followed this comic, and I've generally seen alot of what I expected from this comic, but what I saw today was something I thought I would never seen Fictional Ethan and Lilah go through.

And then I re-spawn and go bowling with Roman.

I know that everybody has their own idea of what Ctrl+Alt+Del is "supposed" to be. Some people feel it's a video game comic and the character stories are just filler, or don't belong, and some people think it's a story comic and the one-shots are jhurf durf derp de twiddildy derp

Telling different stories, switching back and forth between storylines and one-shots, and not restricting myself to one genre/categorization is what keeps me interested in creating the comic. I can spend a few weeks telling a story, and then when it ends, rather then having to launch into another story arc, I can do a bunch of one-shots about, well, whatever I feel like. TL;DR I'M NOT A GAMING COMIC ANYMORE

Seriously, we're gonna have to start manufacturing these containers of highly contagious biological weapons in something other than glass.

See the really crappy part isn't that Buckley intends to use this to develop his character, he did it because he simply doesn't want to change the story. He didn't want to saddle them with a kid. Ethan is still going to be "Mister Crazy Guy" and Lilah will still be the "pillar of reason and logic". He won't break from the obnoxious web comic formula. Ethan is Leo. Leo is Gabe. Gabe is the empty character who's sole purpose is to be the idiot of the joke. It's as meaningless as fan fiction that throws around adult themes at excess in the hopes it makes things more mature. Spend a couple days in as much silence as possible. Don't listen to music or watch anything with sound. Even better, wear big headphones and put the plug in your pocket so you can block out a lot of sound.
