And an hour before, I burnt popcorn in the microwave. Pics will happen.

And the Red Sox clinched the Division. Somewhere, a Yankee is crying.

Looks like the Rockies will if they keep up their winning streak. It'll be the first time in 12 years.

I hate how the home plate umpire initially gave Barrett a chance to apply the tag on Holliday, who missed the plate completely, but as Barrett was reaching for the tag, called him safe.
I hate how MLB hires older umpires who are more interested in ending games and going home and sleeping than making correct calls.
I hate how Mike Winters* will keep his job as umpire, even though he didn't do his job correctly. I'm pretty sure that provoking a player is against all league rules. And I'm pretty sure that in a "real" job, doing something wrong gets you fired, not banned for the rest of the season.
I hate how Peavy probably isn't going to get Cy Young now, since he lost the "Pivotal Game," despite winning the Pitcher's Triple Crown.
I hate how the Rockies, a team who needs to put their stadium a mile above sea level so that they can produce runs, are in the Playoffs on a botched call.
I hate baseball.

*This man provoked Milton Bradley, arguably our hottest hitter at the time, and led to his injury, which didn't directly lead to, but definitely aided the Padres fall at the end of the season.

wtf the Rockies are in the playoffs? Aren't they a horrible team?

I hate baseball's umps. They need to have an instant replay, they're just stubborn and stuck in a stupid tradition. "NOPE THAT WASN'T A HOME RUN!!!" Replay on TV - clearly it was.

Things are okay here in Boston. Red Sox are AL East Champs for the first time in...what, 10 years? Good times.

Josh Beckett should win AL Cy Young.

Dustin Pedrioa should win Rookie of the Year.

So, when the umps messed up that should been homer call earlier in the game, did you decide to keep your mouth shut, because it aided your team?

It wasn't a home run though, they truly got that call right. It hit the top of the wall and came back in play. At least, that's my understanding. I didn't see the play, so I could be wrong.
And in any other park, it's a routine fly ball. Just referring back to the "mile-high" thing.

But rammy, please. Let me speak my mind. I'm ticked at baseball, and I'm ticked at everything. This IS random thoughts, and I'm keeping this a lot more PG than I could. Don't be a Mike Winters.

Agreed. Ram, let iKi blow off some steam. I can see where he's coming from.

However...I thought if a ball hits the top of a wall, it's a home run. That's how it is in Fenway.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it is. The yellow line signals a homer, and although I didn't see it, apparently it hit the top, meaning it would be a homer.
It's just a shame we have nothing to show for it.

I'm not wrong on the whole Holliday missed the plate call, am I?

Not at all. It's being debated on ESPN as we speak.

I'd like a link to that, if you could...I couldn't find it on the front page.
EDIT: Ah, didn't see comments on the story, so I guess I found it then.

And as my final little rant:
Bud Black has GOT to keep Thatcher in that game. Most of the Rox hitters have not had much experience against him, and when he's dominating like he was, you absolutely MUST keep him in, even if you have Trevor Hoffman in the bullpen. Look at the stats...Trevor is horrible in two situations: pivotal games, and games in Coors Field. I was ticked when he brought out Hoffy, because I knew the game was lost at that point.

Even after everything I said about Rox, I really hope they get the chance to play/destroy the D-Backs.
I won't be watching the playoffs this year. I don't care for any team involved. Just make sure the Yanks don't make it past the division series.

Seattle had the Wild Card and then lost it and couldn't recover. It was nice not having a cellar dweller for once.

If they were playing Anaheim, I'd say you have nothing to worry about, but Cleveland is a different story.

You guys are just jealous that a team who started play in 1993 and made their only playoff run (until now) 2 years later is actually doing well for once. Even without that bad call, the Rockies still had 1 out left in the inning and were tied. With a guy on second they would have easily scored.

Now they're up 2 games on Philly, and Game 3's here in Denver. Where it's apparently a crime to have a baseball stadium.

Oh, and the Rockies already beat the D'Backs to get to play the Padres, but they'll do it again.

Go Indians!!!
They haven't been this good since Rick Vaughn, Roger Dorn, and Pedro Cerrano played for them.

What are you talking about? They are decent now. They made a nice run at the Wild Card and the Division.

Yeah, that's what lost my interest in most baseball. The fact my team sucked, and there are no other I really care for.

They have a team now! Ichiro, King Felix, Sexson, Beltre, Putz. They've got players now, good ones and they played good!

WHY DOES IT SEEM LIKE I AM TALKING TO A FREAKING WALL?!

It really enjoys your company...

The Mariners have a great team, Ill give you that. But just look at the other teams in the AL. The Angels are sitting high in the west. Unless they have a collapse next year, your only hope is to catch the wildcard. But that's usually reserved for either the Red Sox or the Yanks.

Easier said than done my friend. Although, against Hoffman in Coors, in a clutch situation...well, let's just say I knew he was going to blow when he entered.

Please kill them. If there's anybody in the Playoffs I want to win, it's the Rockies or the Indians.
