I could see it happening. He pitched really well in the ALCS.

Also: Why in the world are the Rockies starting a pitcher that hasn't thrown since August? In an elimination game, no less? Do they even care?

I know, that sounds really cool, doesn't it? Almost sounds like a movie plot.
Well the Rockies pitcher didn't have it easy either. He started opening day, but was injured. He has had two elbow surgeries and a blood clot. So basically tonights starters are the AL and NL Comeback Players of the Year.

EDIT: It's official. Sox win. Lowell was the MVP. And for the first time since the 1910's the Red Sox have won more Championships in a decade than the Yankees.

Ace, I may have to visit you sometime this week to see the celebration parade. I'm gonna need a place to crash.

*sigh*, I was really hoping for the rockies to win, I mean I guess the sox winning against the yankees was good enough for me, and after that wanted to see some variety, and the cubs win so they can beat their curse.

Plus some of my close friends say the rockies are kinda the new kids on the block (other than the nationals) and heck, if there's a second favorite to underdogs, it's the new kids that aren't that welcome.

Not sure what you're referring to, 'cause the Sox didn't play the Yankees in post-season.

I think he's referring to 2004.

WHOOOOOOOOOO!

RED SOX WIN! RED SOX WIN! YEAH!

No man deserved MVP more than Lowell. That guy was flawless all year, and it's good to see him get that when they're probably just going to hand Gay-Rod his regular season MVP trophy.

I loved the chants at Theo Epstein after the game...

"Don't sign A-Rod!"
"Re-sign Lowell!"

Exactly.

Well apparently it's tomorrow at noon, so you're going to have to hurry up if you want in. ;)

Boston has the best championship parades.

Ace has a custom title relating to baseball so I came into this thread specifically I guess to ANNOUNCE it.

Speaking of that pocket burner, did you like how he announced that he'd opt out of his contract the day that the Sox win the World Series?

What a little attention whore he is.

Hm, yeah, didn't make that connection when they were talking about him. It's stuff like that that reminds me why i don't want the Sox to sign him.

And being a Mariners fan, I have the right to say this. I've said it to the Rangers and now I'll say it to the Yankees, "I told you so." I knew when he took that deal in 2000 what kind of a player he was. He doesn't care about what team he is on, only how much they will pay him.

Oh yeah, I loved how Fox Sports decided to cut away to some guy talking about it DURING THE GAME.

Screw you, A-Rod, Lowell is more classy, and more clutch in the playoffs. Also he doesn't want the kind of money you think you deserve. Red Sox management, SIGN MIKE LOWELL NAO!

I'm afraid you're talking about the expos my dearie, technically not the same team, I mean they just came around in 2005, 2 years, i'd say relatively new.

They are the same team. They have the same front office, the same players just a different address. It's no different from when the Browns moved to Baltimore or when the Nordiques moved to Colorado. They are the same team.

Best. Rockies Season. Ever. Even though Boston did sweep them in (the Rockies' FIRST) World Series.

Congrats to the Sox...but next year, watch out for the Rox!

Iki, Ian, it looks like the battle for the NL West just got a little tougher.

Torre to manage Dodgers.

So, Joe goes from the Yanks to their NL rival Dodgers. Odd, ain't it?

It's not a rivalry anymore. It ceased being a rivalry when the Dodgers left Brooklyn.

Meh, I still consider it a classic rivalry. There are still dodgers fans out there that despise the Yanks.

There are fans of every team that despise the Yankees, including Yankee fans.

Joe Torre himself actually said he hated the Dodgers.

Ba-dump-BUMP.

I know this is a little late, but what do you think about the deal that Detroit made to get D-Train and Miguel Cabrera?

I think it gives them the best starting line-ups in the MLB. I know I'd hate to be pitching to them.

I think that the Marlins are about to pack up and move out of Florida. I don't see the logic in trading away your two best players. You want to build around them, right? And as far as I know, they weren't locker room problems.

And hopefully, they'll get the dominant pitching rotation that they were supposed to have back. I was pretty happy with the deal, even though it cost some pretty good prospects.

Tigers are looking scary. But I still stand by my conviction the Red Sox's lineup is beyond dangerous.

Ellsbury, Pedroia, Ortiz, Ramirez, Lowell, Youk. Ellsbury's got godly speed, and Pedroia's a hit machine. They're going to score fast and hard. The scary thing is one of these guys is going to be in the #6 spot. Now that's depth. Veritek's a decent hitter too.

Psshhh, it stops at six? Tigers have Granderson, Polanco, Cabrera, Magglio, Guillen, Sheff, Pudge (if he can relax already), Jaque Jones, and Rentaria. Someone in there's gonna have to bat ninth.
