Where's the starting pitcher's spot?

Also, I said this in the locked and ABP'd baseball thread, I'll say it again: the A's management is awful.

Pitchers don't hit in the AL.

*Facepalm of the self-directed variety*
I don't watch AL or inter-league play, so I wouldn't know that. Never mind.

I think the NL should consider that as well. Pitchers really shouldn't have to worry about throwing their arm out of socket trying to get a hit.

But in the AL they have designated hitters. That would give the AL an unfair advantage.

^ lol wut

They have advantages over each other that are only apparent in inter-league play or the World Series. When they go to the AL the NL teams have to somehow get a DH, and when the AL plays in the NL, they have to get their pitchers to hit where the NL pitchers already can.

Which one is a bigger advantage is up for discussion, I guess.

Having a DH is obviously a better advantage.

It's up for debate which place an interleague game is played would give the home team a bigger advantage - AL or NL. No matter what, both teams will either play by the same DH rules, so it doesn't matter that having a DH is an advantage.

Tell that to Dice-K.

I'm still in awe of his hit.

Pfft. Lucky.

And Ed, experience plays a factor. AL teams have DH's that have more experience against other pitchers, and NL teams don't. That's what gives the AL a better advantage in an American League ballpark.

Uhh...he's been hitting his entire career in Japan, and he's not half bad. Clearly it's more than dumb luck.

Nothing spectacular, but enough to show he knows how to hit. He's gotten a double and home run before.

Nothing spectacular? He had a BA of .333 in 2006!

I can see you were right.

That is true, and AL teams actually hire a guy to play DH. But NL pitchers have a lot more experience than AL ones do, so the NL gets a pretty good advantage at their home parks. So I'd say it's up for debate.

Okay, for some reason, BTG put the Draft time at 11:15 PM on a Saturday night. I'm there now but it looks like I'm the only one who's gonna be taking part in this draft.

No, I just now entered the draft room and picked Swisher.

Aight, cool. It was getting boring with everyone just following Yahoo's suggested list.

I've been taking a unique approach to this draft, just like I did with the Football one.

I'm going the traditional way, filling the positions I need to fill and looking for the best player I can in that spot.

I feel really stupid for drafting 3 first basemen, but other than that, I feel like I've drafted pretty well. And the Yahoo! Autopick has helped a bit, too.

Aww, I didn't know the draft started already! Now it's too late to start my team. Darn.

You have a team, but it was picked for you.

And I used the last 4 picks as roster fillers, so guess what? I got stuck with 1 second baseman. Aargh, that displeases me.

Ace, I am really not looking forward to playing your team, by the way. You drafted really well, and picked up some dangerous guys.

Are you sure? I don't even think I created a team to begin with.

Let's go, Brewers!

Hey, why not? Nobody cheers for the Brewers. Not even Milwaukee.

As usual, I'll spend this season watching my Braves pwn the entire regular season, only to have a total meltdown and get swept in the first round of the playoffs.

Also, I'm ready for opening day. Rumor around the office is that several staff members will be out and can be found at a local sports bar downing hot dogs and watching the big screens.

Maybe I'll go, too.

I was planning on doing something like that on Opening Day for the Giants. Except instead of a sports bar, it's my house. And it's also quite unfortunate that all my friends are A's fans.

I apologize for not being able to attend the draft. I was in Bowling Green for basically three days and just set the thing to draft for me because I knew I wouldn't make it if I tried to stay up. My outfield is loaded though.

Drafting, though originally my weakness in Fantasy, is now one of my strong suits.
