Tell me, was Clay the first one out there to hug him?

I couldn't tell. He was probably part of that huge group that rushed Lester after the final strike.

So he's beaten cancer, won the deciding game 4 of the World Series, and pitched a no hitter in like what, a 2 year span?

Jon Lester is truly a God among men.

Also this week in Fantasy I'm facing Abu. I just made some stellar pickups, methinks. Most of my batting lineup is hitting over .300, and those that aren't I'm keeping for other reasons (ie Ichiro and Ellsbury for easy runs and stolen bases). The past two weeks I've been winning my matchups like I expected early in the season.

It's about time. He's old. It's time to go out to greener pastures.

But he's leaving! Not only is he leaving his fans, he's leaving fans of the whole league! I'm a fan of the Giants, who he never played for, and I'm gonna miss the guy.

HE WAS GREAT.

You're absolutely correct. He's really really old. But I'm just gonna miss him like hell.

Yeah, he was, I agree, great ball player. Nice guy. Good guy. Fine guy. OLD GUY. NEEDS A BREAK. RETIRE IN PEACE.

You could always write him love letters.

I haven't heard anything of Piazza in years. Apparently he wasn't even playing this year.

Yeah, Piazza hasn't done much the last couple years. There was some talk about if he'd be one of the next guys to reach 500 home runs, but I guess that won't happen. He FINALLY played DH for Oakland last year, which he should have been doing his whole career. Not only was he a bad catcher, but it also would have helped his batting out a lot if he didn't catch, and he'd probably still be playing consistently. He was a great hitter, but catcher's hitting numbers decline much quicker than others'.

You suck, Verlander.

Well, he hasn't been pitching all that bad this year, he just isn't getting any run support. I don't know how the fantasy numbers work over there, but that's probably what's hurting him most.

Manny's going to reach 500 HRs very soon. He's at 497 or 498 right now.

GRIFFEY HIT 600!

I'm so ecstatic right now. I grew up a Griffey fan and still am. He is one of my heroes and it's so good to see him hit this milestone. It's also kind of sad because if it wasn't for a few bad years, he'd be the Career Home Run King and there would be no questioning of the legitamcy of that record.

A-Rod is gonna be next to get the home run record. Like it or not.

I can live with that. He'll be better than the person who holds it now.

As much as I despise A-Rod I would much rather have him hold the record than Barry Steroids.

Also I'm finally winning Fantasy games I like should have been the entire year. Geovany Soto and Carlos Quinten ftw.

Did he test positive? No. Can steroids make you stronger?

Yes they can, but they don't make you a better ball player. He hit a fast moving ball consistently. Can you hit 5 oz. sphere that's moving 90+ miles an hour over a 335 foot wall 760 times? Nope. We could give you 30 years, you'd never do it. He's the home run king, and he's one of the greatest of all time. Live with it for another few years, because that will all change.

Quite frankly, anyone defending Barry Bonds at this point is completely deluded. Enjoy your asterisk.

Barry was an amazing player in his early years, definitely a Hall of Famer. But honestly you can't say there's something right about this:

Those pictures are almost 20 years apart. I think if he worked at becoming stronger for almost 20 years, it's definitely possible to become that much stronger.

That's debatable...

Being strong CAN make you a better ballplayer. If not for steroids, he no doubt still could've hit 500+ home runs, but the steroids got him the other couple hundred. He was always a good hitter with really quick wrists, with and without steroids, but once he started getting juiced, he could get jammed and pop the ball up, and the ball would still find its way over the fence. And this happened when he started getting stronger in his mid to late 30s. That's what made it obvious about Roger Clemens's and Rafael Palmiero's steroid use - they actually got stronger as they got into their late 30s and 40s...

Anyways, that's awesome for Griffey. It's always been too bad for all of his injuries. With his sweet swing, he could've caught Aaron and Bonds (hopefully he'll at least pass up Sosa)...

He's only 9 away from Sosa. So it is within reason. Especially if the trade rumors prove true and he is heading back to the AL.

What a difference 30 pounds makes.

And Ed, it's ESPN, for god's sakes. I refuse to believe anything those biased morons say anymore.

Of muscle. No one puts on 30 pounds of muscle in that short of time without help.

If you don't believe ESPN, then how about the San Fransisco Chronicle.
